This last year you engaged in advocacy like never before. Together, we catalyzed the creative community to secure historic public funding for arts and culture.
Over 10,000 of you attended one of our 37 online programs to learn what was happening to save arts and culture during the worst economic, public health and social justice crisis of our lifetime, participated in regional conversations to network with other arts advocates, downloaded our reports and toolkits, responded to one of our action alerts, signed one of our petitions, mobilized during arts advocacy week, answered our impact survey, called into a public hearing, or activated your local networks by using one of our social media templates.
And, it worked!
In fact, if you work for an arts and culture nonprofit or own a creative business, you benefited from the work of your statewide arts advocacy organization. Today is your chance to support and sustain those efforts in California. A membership in California Arts Advocates or Californians for the Arts affirms that you believe in the work we are doing and that you support having dedicated organizations fighting for public funding and building awareness of our industry across the state.
Together we:
-
Realized historic public investments in the recovery of the arts, culture and creative industries including the only carve out for an industry in the CA relief grant program with $50m in funding for cultural organizations; $150m for live events and venues grant program, $50m for small budget nonprofit performing arts organizations to support with payroll relief, an additional $100m investment in the state arts agency, and $50m for museums along with district capital investments for a total of over $600m.
And although these achievements are historic, they are only one time. For our work to be transformative for artists and creative workers, we must continue to build awareness, fight for recognition and increase ongoing and equitable access of public funding to historically disinvested communities. Our organizations are there to do this work every day. We are your dedicated resource advocating for arts and culture in the state and federal government.
JOIN the Movement to center artists, culture bearers and the creative workforce as solution partners to transforming California into a just, more equitable and healthier place to live and thrive.
