New Businesses in Downtown Glendale
"Downtown Glendale recently welcomed two new businesses!
Nomadic Ice Cream Rolls , located at 5750 West Glendale Avenue, held their soft opening at the beginning of February. Nomadic was the first ice cream roll cart in Arizona and we are excited to see them open their first brick and mortar location in downtown Glendale offering this unique dessert trend. This handmade ice cream treat is made with liquid ice cream poured on an ice pan, then mixed with fruit and different ingredients, that is quickly chilled, rolled and served.

Veggie Rebellion , the first vegan grocery store in Arizona, officially opened its doors in February at 5717 West Glendale Avenue. Veggie Rebellion has been a vendor at the Downtown Glendale Farmer's Market until most recently taking the next step to open their first brick and mortar storefront. Veggie Rebellion received significant interest from the local media including coverage on ABC15 , Arizona Republic and the Glendale Star .
We are thrilled to see these two businesses choose to invest in our downtown and we look forward to welcoming more new businesses to the downtown community ! "

Help Prevent Heat-Related Deaths and Illnesses
"Record-breaking temperatures and extremely dry conditions have experts predicting Phoenix could experience one of its hottest and most dangerous summers yet, putting the Valley’s homeless and elderly shut-ins at risk. In an effort to protect this vulnerable population, Phoenix Rescue Mission is launching its 6 th annual city-wide Code:Red Summer Heat Relief Campaign.

Beginning May 1 and running through August 31, Phoenix Rescue Mission will partner with businesses and municipalities, including the cities of Phoenix, Peoria and Glendale, to distribute water, hygiene kits (Hope Totes), new socks, toiletries, monetary donations and more.

“Our volunteers and staff are preparing for some of the toughest conditions we’ve seen since we first launched Code:Red more than six years ago,” said Phoenix Rescue Mission CEO Jay Cory. 'We always need water, and we encourage everyone to bring in a case or two, or even start your own water drive. But more importantly, we need the resources and manpower to distribute that water, which is why I am urging the public to donate to the cause, so we have the means to reach every corner of Phoenix.'"
