Yup, that’s me, showing my true colors and fake hair to Kristi Yamaguchi, Olympic gold medalist and good sport, at a running event in Central Park when I was in charge of press relations for the New York City Marathon and its sponsors, i.e. clients.

Delighting the executives who provided those sponsorships was a priority, and each one appreciated the personal attention.

And why the costume?
Because that sponsor had a hearty sense of humor.
Kristi judged my outfit an 8.4.
But the client gave it a 10.
More recently, I discussed ways to stay connected to your clients with journalist John Hanc for his "Certified" column on ACEfitness.org, Opening Up Your Lines of Communication

Some highlights:

  • Act fast and act first. Don’t wait for your clients to contact you: Say hello now.
  • Personalize whenever possible. Refer to something you know about them—children, pets, hobbies.
  • Pick up the phone. The human voice carries more emotion than most written messages.

Let your clients know that they are important. Because they are.
Is your communication
strategy out of shape?
Let’s talk.
