CAMBA Night Out 2019--Let the Games Begin!
Celebrate CAMBA’s achievements during the past year at our Annual Gala on October 24, 2019. We are delighted to be honoring two wonderful partners at this year’s event: Sheldon Lobel, Founder of Sheldon Lobel, P.C. and Eric Enderlin, President of New York City's Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

The evening begins at 6pm at Tribeca 360 in Manhattan and will include a cocktail reception followed by a program that acknowledges and honors champions of our work and mission. The celebration continues with dinner and casino games until 10:00 p.m.

Brooklyn's Power 100
News publication City & State recently assessed the people who make things happen in Brooklyn and named CAMBA President & CEO Joanne M. Oplustil as one of the Power 100 in the borough. This honor comes a year after Joanne led CAMBA to its ranking as one of the Top 50 Nonprofits in New York. Congratuations to Joanne and CAMBA!
CAMBA in the News
CLS attorney Jeremy Bunyaner and colleague at work
When New York became the first city to enact a Right to Counsel law entitling low-income residents to free legal representation in eviction proceedings in housing court, it immediately proved to be a game-changer. CAMBA Legal Services has been contracted to provide representations to clients to help prevent evictions and avoid homelessness, and has hired more attorneys to meet the need. Two private attorneys, David Fleischer and David Ratner offered their services pro bono to assist in training the new attorneys.

The story on how this effort came about is the latest entry on CAMBA Voices --our blog spot, and has been covered by Bloomberg News and am/New York .
CAMBA’s Brownsville In Violence Out (BIVO) program and Vice President Wesner Pierre (photo above) were featured prominently in local TV coverage of Mayor Bill de Blasio's announcement on August 6 to provide substantial funding for anti-violence efforts in area neighborhoods including Brownsville.
Please visit our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts to see an excerpt from the NY1 story.

PIX11 also interviewed Wesner, as well as NBC4 and Fox5 News.
Our House, Our Planet
Summer campers from PS 92 (Flatbush) join campers at PS 91 in Crown Heights as they put their heads and hands together for the environment.
CAMBA campers learned first-hand (and hands on!) about how their choices impact our planet when Open Source Gallery’s Tiny House Project rolled into our CAMBA’s Kids Quest and Kids Unlimited summer programs August 14. Open Source' Tiny House is a is free-standing and totally off the grid mobile workshop. Youth had to get creative by building bike generators, water collections tanks and solar ovens to power and run the workshop/house. Through creative tinkering and invention, the kids began to understand that art supplies are everywhere and that they can make a real impact on the planet by always thinking about sustainability.
Samsung & Summer Youth
Summer camp youth enjoy the Samsung experience in Manhattan
What's not to like about discovering new computers, smartphones and cool 3-dimensional stuff? That was how 41 youth in CAMBA's summer camps spent part of their last week at camp by visiting the Samsung 837 Experience Store in Manhattan. According to volunteers who organized the event, the store "is a place where technology and culture collide. It combines art, fashion, technology, and sport in unprecedented ways." When the day was over, each youth each received a parting-gift of back-to-school supplies.
