Vantage West putting its financial coaches on road

------In 2024, Vantage West Credit Union participated in more than 100 community events.

------It provided nearly $1 million in support to community partners, educators, and nonprofits.

------And it helped more than 300 individuals achieve their goals through 1:1 financial coaching sessions.

------This year, “knowing many people can face challenges accessing us for financial coaching, we decided to take our financial coaches on the road,” Sandra Sagehorn-Elliott, president and CEO of the credit union, told guests at your Chamber’s April 10 annual meeting and awards breakfast.

------It went to organizations like the New Freedom Project, which helps recently incarcerated individuals rebuild their lives with job training, behavioral health services, and now – financial education,” she said.

------Beginning in May, Vantage West coaches are holding regular office hours at the Gospel Rescue Mission Center of Opportunity, and both the Sahuarita and Marana Community Food Bank resource centers.

------“All three of these centers provide critical wraparound services,” Sagehorn-Elliott said, but “consistent financial education remained a missing piece.

------“By stepping in, Vantage West is helping fill that gap to ensure more Arizonans have access to the financial know-how they need to build a better future,” she concluded.

The 5 C’s that Arizona’s economy have historically relied on are cattle, copper, citrus, cotton and climate. Here in Pima County, we are feeling the harsh economic impacts of the lack of investment in a 6th C: Children. With all of the national attention that is currently focused on our child care crisis, it’s clear this isn't just a family issue, it's everyone's issue. Arizona works when child care works and businesses can play a key role in shaping a stronger, more resilient workforce that benefits everyone. Join First Things First Community Engagement Coordinators Chinna Garza and Rose Hattab to find out how we can all take action.

We'll see you there!
