And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
Romans 8:28, NLT
Nothing irks me more than arriving on time at my doctor's office for an appointment and then having to sit and wait until the nurse tells me the doctor is ready to see me. I've done my part. I set up my appointment. I arrived on time. And it doesn't seem fair that I have to sit and wait on my doctor until he’s ready to see me.
Oftentimes, that's how I feel about my heavenly father when I"m waiting on him to answer a specific prayer. I've done my part - I've lived by faith; I've read and applied his word to my daily Christian walk, and I've sought to dot every moral " I" and ethical "T". And yet, I still find myself waiting and wondering why it's taking so long for God to answer my prayers.
But when I finally get to see my doctor and he explains the reason why I had to wait, I find I'm not as angry as I was before because now it makes sense why I had to wait.
God has a good reason for why he has me in His waiting room. In the words of pastor and author Max Lucado, "He is always at work. He never twiddles his thumbs. He takes no vacation. God is always working because he is an active God." John 5:17
Isn't it good to know that what is coming will eventually make sense of the reason God may also have you in his waiting room?
Sharing the Word,
Today's prayer: Father, as we wait for you to answer our prayers, help us to keep trusting and believing that you are working things out behind the scenes for our ultimate good. Amen.
