Are you leaving free CLE credits on the table?
You could be, if you’re volunteering with VLB and not taking credit—or you’ve been waiting to volunteer when you could be earning  free CLEs now.

Attorneys working with VLB are eligible for one free CLE credit for every six hours volunteered, for a maximum of three per year. VLB is the only approved pro bono provider in Birmingham able to offer free CLEs—a valuable benefit to our volunteers.

“This is a great way to both encourage attorneys to volunteer with us and reward them for their service,” says VLB Executive Director Nancy Yarbrough. “Last year we had 33 attorneys receive the full three hours of CLE credit, which is phenomenal because it means each of those attorneys volunteered at least 18 hours with us.”
You must meet the six-hour minimum of pro bono work by September 30 for credit this year, a deadline that’s fast approaching! Contact Volunteer Coordinator Liz Quistorff or call her directly at (205) 518-8401 for more information about earning free CLEs through VLB.

What you need to know:
  • Take credit where credit is due! Use this convenient form as soon as you’re ready to submit your VLB volunteer hours for the current fiscal year. Please submit no later than Sept. 23. Note: self-reporting directly to the CLE Commission is not permitted.

  • It’s not too late! You still have time to earn free CLEs by signing up for VLB volunteer opportunities now. Contact Volunteer Coordinator Liz Quistorff to learn more about getting involved, or visit our website at vlbham.org

Come see what's happening in Woodlawn!
VLB has a special relationship with the historic neighborhood of Woodlawn, so we’re always happy to spread the news about positive things happening in the community—including this Saturday's first after-hours Woodlawn Street Market.

Come and sample meals prepared on site by local vendors, find unique goods from area merchants, and enjoy live entertainment. You'll find the action on 55th Pl. S. in Woodlawn from 5 to 9 p.m.
VLB first established its commitment to supporting Woodlawn by launching a Stand with Woodlawn Help Desk the first Tuesday of every month to provide low-income residents with civil legal assistance. We’re excited to see this vibrant area growing. Come see for yourself this weekend!
Can you help?
