Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is looking for students in grades K-6 to submit 2-D artworks celebrating the role played by public transportation in protecting our environment, combatting climate change, and supporting sustainable livable communities.
This TEDx event featuring our community's own Mitzi Sinnott will focus on the theme “Complexities of Identity”. We tend to think of identity as singular, but the more our lives become interconnected, the more we find our identities to be complex. It is imperative to honor the balance between our connections and differences in order to promote a strong community and a more harmonious life. We are all similar, yet we are all unique. The Oral History Association invites proposals for papers and presentations for its 2023 annual meeting. OHA welcomes broad and creative interpretations of the conference theme while hoping to forge new connections, to rejuvenate practitioners, and to broaden the reach of oral history inside and outside classrooms; thus, equipping individuals and communities to navigate and shape their own realities more effectively. Proposals are invited from diverse professions and communities including academics, activists, artists, creative writers, community historians, documentary film producers, ethnographers, independent scholars, librarians, museum curators, public historians, teachers, web designers, and others. If accepted, partial scholarships may be available for international and other presenters.

The Dome House's Al & Mickey Quinlan Artist Residency is open to one artist residing in the Midwest working in the fine art mediums of drawing, painting, printmaking, photography and other mediums. The residency aims to provide the space and support to create work in an inspiring and unique location, in addition to providing opportunities for public access to an artist at work through public programming and educational content for the community. The Al & Mickey Quinlan Residency is an 8-week fall program created and led in partnership with the Miller Art Museum.

Residency Duration: 8 weeks
NewFest’s New Voices Filmmaker Grant, in partnership with Netflix, supports emerging LGBTQ+ directors by providing funding to make new work, assisting in getting their work more widely shared, and propelling their careers forward through mentorship, networking and professional development opportunities. This opportunity is open for four director recipients who have not yet had their work distributed.
