November 7, 2018

If you have not already done so, please fill out a meal application for your student. As with all public schools, the Academy needs to do its due diligence to gather information from its families. And we are incentivizing with a free Panda Express Orange Chicken lunch. Complete the form by the November 9th deadline and your child will receive orange chicken for lunch on Monday, November 19.

Here is more information about why schools are required to seek completed forms:
  • It can benefit your child who can receive an emergency lunch if they forgot their lunch (no more picking up lunch last minute for the kiddos)
  • It helps our school have complete reporting to the state of CA,
  • and most importantly the number of applications returned and approved can affect how much funding our school receives to help students meet academic benchmarks, including books and computers, which benefits all students

The deadline to submit an application is November 9th for the current school year. Paper forms are available in the office or on the Titan website. The link can be found on our Academy website under Resources/Lunch Program.

Your information is confidential!
Thanks so much for helping the Academy.

Who: Juniors and Sophomores are welcome to attend.

November 9

The Academy has been exclusively invited to attend the Colleges That Change Lives event in Tustin, Ca., on November 9th. We will be taking a small group of interested 10th and 11th-grade students.

The event is an incredible opportunity for Academy students to meet with college representatives from across the United States.

Students and parents are encouraged to visit and talk with the reps about specific admissions requirements, scholarships, campus culture, and any other questions you may have to find the best fit. As of October 4th, we have 19 CTCL colleges confirmed with more to come!

Students who are interested will need to complete an application and submit to Summer Sanders. Students will be chosen based on thoughtful, authentic, and thorough answers to questions on their application. See Mrs. Sanders for more details.

When: Friday, November 9th, 2-4 pm
Where: The Study / Brain Builders: 725 El Camino Way, Tustin, CA 92780

Upside Down Dance
The Halloween Dance was terrific! We want to give a big shout out to the Family Alliance, Halloween Dance committee, Student Leadership, and all of the families who organized the event and donated items! We especially couldn't have done it without Kerri-Lynne, the Capp Family, Antoinette, Mis. Julissa, Ace, or Mrs. Sanders. Thank you!!

Movie Night: Coco
Last Friday, Mrs. Nieto and the Spanish Club put on a Movie Night for the Academy community. With over 60 tickets sold, the event was well attended! A special thanks to Lisette Gomez, Karmen Romero, Kevin Arreaga, and Austin Turcios, for without them, this event wouldn't have been possible.

We also want to thank all Spanish Club members who helped and contributed to making this event a success: Duncan Cupernell, Reina Amaya, Efrain Amaya, Ana Hernandez, Genesis Luciano, Jacob Bongard, Rebekah Castro, Ariana Bentley, Quaira Freeman, Vanessa Guerrero, Suhaila Mordan, Caleb Lee, Angel Villegas, Noah Gardner-Orr, and J Benitez.

There is no better way to introduce young people to other cultures than with an exchange program. The Academy is working with  Greenheart Exchange to establish a student exchange program.

There are a few opportunities to become a host family:

  • Greenheart is currently looking for a host family for an Italian exchange student who is a current Junior at the Academy.  He speaks fluent Italian and English and has a stellar academic record.

  • Greenheart is also looking for host families for two exchange students to join the Academy this Spring.

If you are interested in learning more about being a host family, please contact the local Greenheart coordinator, Hadeel Judeh at 562-644-0008 or

Mrs. Day's family is currently hosting an exchange student and is happy to help answer questions about being a host family. Feel free to email her at
