Want to help advocate for better behavioral healthcare in Michigan? Join us at the annual Walk A Mile in My Shoes rally and share your voice!

This year's event will take place from 8 am - 5:30 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Walk A Mile is an annual event hosted by the Community Mental Health Association of Michigan at the State Capitol in Lansing. Participants will be able to meet with others from across the state, explore the Capitol, share their stories and encourage our state lawmakers to support behavioral healthcare.

Staff wishing to participate can sign up by clicking here. Participating staff MUST receive written supervisor approval before signing up.

Staff are also encouraged to identify individuals in services who would be interested in participating and assist them in signing up. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals in services to advocate for their own care. They can sign up at the same link.

Each participant will be provided with a sack lunch and t-shirt on the day of the event. We will all be traveling to Lansing together on a chartered bus.

Participants will be required to complete a photo release prior to the event and attend a mandatory pre-event meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 30, from 3:30-4:30 pm in HealthWest Boardroom B.

Don't miss the 5th Annual Muskegon County Employee Picnic from 11 am - 4 pm on Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Muskegon County Fairgrounds.

There will be music, games and fun for all ages.

Holton Summer Park Days Returns for Families

Holton families are invited to join Summer Park Days this summer at the Timberline Estates Playground.

The event is open to everyone and will include a free family picnic and fun activities.

MYalliance hosting summer of free movies and bowling

Muskegon County families are invited to join MYalliance for a whole summer of fun! Enjoy 8-weeks of free bowling and movies while learning how your family can get involved with our community youth groups. While these events are free, registration is required as space is limited.

Youth under the age of 15 MUST be accompanied by an adult.

SPF Application for Prevention Success Training (SAPST)

ONE TRAINING DATE LEFT!

August 28-31 - NOW VIRTUAL!

The SAPST is a four-day training that addresses the following primary prevention topics: behavioral health, continuum of care, public health approach, risk and protective factors, developmental perspective, and the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF). 

Various interactive activities will help participants to understand the foundation of prevention and the SPF five steps (assessment, capacity, planning, implementation and evaluation plus cultural competence and sustainability), and a community case study will help participants apply the framework components to a community situation.  

Registration fee: $40. Virtual and in-person options are available. Recommended for substance abuse prevention staff working in the publicly-funded field.
