Jeanerette Museum's
"Way Down in Louisiana"
History Talk
JEANERETTE, La. (July 21, 2017) --  The Jeanerette Museum presents writer and roots music scholar Todd Mouton, in a music history talk at 6 p.m. on August 30, 2017. Mouton will give a multimedia presentation and discussion of the King of Zydeco, Clifton Chenier, and the many great south Louisiana artists he influenced.

Mouton is the author of "Way Down in Louisiana: Clifton Chenier, Cajun, Zydeco, and Swamp Pop Music." He will discuss Clifton Chenier’s life and career as well as other artists such as Buckwheat Zydeco, the blues-rock of Sonny Landreth and the accordion and fiddle driven music of BeauSoleil.

These artists emerged from the traditions of the Cajun and Creole Country. From singer-songwriter and poet Zachary Richard to innovators Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, to the cross genre artists such as Roddie Romero and The Hub City All Stars, Mouton’s book showcases Louisiana music at its best.

Over the course of his 20-plus years as a writer, editor, non-profit arts executive, and producer of concerts, events, records and radio programs, Todd Mouton and his work have received a Louisiana Governor's Arts Award and recognition from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities. He's widely known as a passionate advocate for the artists and cultures of his home state.

Join Mouton as he presents this free history talk at the Jeanerette Museum located at 500 E. Main St., Jeanerette. The talk is suitable for an adult audience. Seating may be limited and taken on a first come, first serve basis. A book signing will follow the event.
