- The internet has 4.2 billion users
- There are 3.03 billion active social media users
- 91% of retail brands use 2 or more social media channels
- 81% of all small and medium businesses use some kind of social platform
- Internet users have an average of 7.6 social media accounts
- Social media users grew by 121 million between Q2 2017 and Q3 2017.
- That works out at a new social media user every 15 seconds.
- Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp handle 60 billion messages a day
- An average of 23% of Facebook users check their account at least 5 times a day and 4.2 billion people access their social media sites via mobile device.
- There are 684,478 pieces of content shared on Facebook and 3,600 new photos on Instagram every minute.
- Users are spending 1 out of every 7 minutes on Facebook when online. That means people are spending about 10.5 billion minutes or almost 20,000 years on the social site.
So, how do all of these facts apply to you?
What you may want to ask is how can you improve your social media outreach for your business or company to increase your digital footprint.

BUSINESS WORKSHOP HELD MONDAY, FEBRUARY 26TH -
...
and it was a hit. Working in cooperation with the Town of Palm Beach Deputy Manager,
Jay Boodheshwar, the chamber assembled a panel of experts to discuss issues and formulate answers to make doing business in Palm Beach easier.
Town staff included Paul Castro, Zoning, Paul Brazil, Public Works, Darrel Donatto, Fire/Safety and Nick Caristo from the Police department.
The "futurist" panel of professionals were Ken Walker, noted retail marketer, Alexandra Patterson, key coordinator of the Royal, Cody Crowell of the Frisbie Group and architect Keith Spina who recently finished the restoration of the First National Bank building on South County.
A summary report, prepared by Deputy Town manager, Jay Boodheshwar, identified the following six recommendations to Town Council:
- Look for opportunities to streamline Town applications and/or permitting processes
- Modify street signage to improve "wayfinding" which reduces traffic
- Review Town Code to identify archaic and/or regulations that are difficult to comply with
- Improve parking regulations to promote vehicular turnover
- Identify "business ombudsman" to help businesses navigate through required procedures
- Establish frequent business community input sessions with Town staff
