June 2023

Summer is finally here, and now's a good time to catch up on shows that you haven't gotten around to yet.

2022 Catalyst Award nominee “The Bear” is back for season two! Find out what the crew is up to as they transform the sandwich shop into a fine dining restaurant. Will Carmy be able to put his culinary education to use? Currently on FX.

Inspired by a TikTok viral sensation, the documentary Bama Rush delves into the frenzy of sorority rush at the University of Alabama. One of the students followed is a first-generation college student looking to belong.

Primo is the best show you’re not watching. Based on the life of (first-gen professional) Shea Serrano, the show focuses on young Rafael (aka “Primo”) who is raised by his single mother and five uncles who have strong opinions about his life. Rafa is on track to be the first in the family to attend a four-year college or university.

RIP Jim Brown

We celebrate the life and legacy of Jim Brown, who often is regarded as the greatest college athlete ever having excelled in lacrosse, football, and basketball. The son of a professional boxer (father) and a homemaker (mother), Brown would earn a B.S. degree from Syracuse University before starting his professional career in the National Football League.

#ThrowbackTime

“The First Day” episode of “The Waltons” first aired in 1974. We go along with eldest son John Boy as he takes the family car into town for his first day of college. He’s hazed, made fun of, and put on the spot by a professor but is an inspiration to his younger siblings. Currently streaming on Amazon Prime.
