On Thursday, July 21, National Be Someone Day challenges each of us to take ten seconds to make a difference in the life of a child.
What can be done in ten seconds? We can order a cup of coffee or water a plant. We can hear or tell a bad joke. In ten seconds, we can change our minds and after doing so say a prayer of thanks. When we walk into a room, in that time, we can register the pain in someone's eyes and begin to provide comfort. We can praise and honor someone who deserves it.
We can also commit to report child abuse. On National Be Someone Day, take the pledge to be the person to make a difference in a child's life. Most importantly, be someone prepared to report when a child trusts you enough to tell you they've been hurt.

Celebrating 25 Years!
Project Harmony Anniversary Gala
|
In 1996, Project Harmony opened its doors to provide support to children who needed it most. Today, those children are adults whose lived experience helps them to shine a light on child abuse and neglect, breaking cycles of trauma and evolving to become the healthiest and happiest versions of themselves.
Project Harmony’s 25th milestone represents a quarter century of protecting children, collaborating with professionals and engaging the community in its mission to end child abuse and neglect. The robust support Project Harmony provides to its clients and their families continues to grow and make a difference for countless lives.
Join us on Saturday, October 15, for what promises to be a spectacular evening to celebrate the impactful and lifesaving work of Project Harmony over the past 25 years and honoring Henry Davis for his generosity, leadership and support of the agency for many years.

Meet Mandy True
Administrative Coordinator with Nebraska Alliance of Child Advocacy Centers
|
Explain your position with Project Harmony: I am employed with the Nebraska Alliance of Child Advocacy Centers located on the Project Harmony campus. The Nebraska Alliance is one of 50 Chapters in the United States and we are a statewide membership organization that consists of seven fully accredited Child Advocacy Centers (including Project Harmony) and we provide grant opportunities, training opportunities, legislative action/education, along with additional support for each of the centers however we do not provide direct service to clients. My position at the Nebraska Alliance, which began almost four years ago, includes administrative, fiscal and financial responsibilities along with grant management, website development/maintenance and additional support for our Executive Director, Ivy Svoboda.
What led you to work at Project Harmony: My passion and drive to make things better for the children I was currently working with led me to want to work with the Nebraska Alliance. I previously worked in the school system and wanted to be able to help kids more and to be able to be their unheard voice. My position here has led me to be able to do just that! I am very blessed to be able to help be a voice both legislatively and locally.
Tell me about someone who has influenced your decision to work at Project Harmony or a mentor who has helped the most in your career: Without a doubt, Ivy Svoboda! Her drive and passion for what she does daily is a guiding light for me, not only at work, but personally as well. She is always willing to share her knowledge and bestows upon me so much faith and trust for which I am eternally grateful. I often look to her for advice and I know she always has our entire organization's best interests at heart.
How do you enjoy spending your time when you are not working: I love spending time with my family, husband of 16+ years and two super active sports loving kids. When I'm not at a basketball court, wrestling match, football or soccer field, I enjoy camping, getting lost on TikTok, watching anything Disney and home projects - we are currently converting our basement into a sports bar/movie theater.
What is the one thing you are most proud of about your job: I always joke that it is our website, but honestly it is helping the organization to transition, flourish and grow! As we have grown, I have been able to take on several more responsibilities and be more hands on within our administrative and executive roles. This has given me and our Executive Director more time to be able to focus on our collaborative efforts among our statewide partnerships to enhance the response to child abuse.
Favorite quote that inspires you personally: If you can dream it, you can do it. All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. We keep forward, opening new doors, and doing new things because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. - Walt Disney
