Arete Prep families, thank you! You have helped make this year a good one, even with all of the challenges. With eight weeks left, we still have funding gaps due largely to the additional expense of operating during the pandemic. If you haven’t made a gift this year, consider what amount you could contribute to Community Investment and/or make your Tax Credit to help fully fund this school year. We are only $20,734 away from Community Investment funding and $14,642 away from Tax Credit funding. It is going to take our collective community to finish out this year financially strong and healthy.

Dear Colleagues & Families,
We have received questions from parents regarding the Governor’s Executive Order (EO) from last week as to whether or not it included public schools.
The Governor’s office confirmed for us this week that the EO did not remove the mask mandate for public schools outlined in a previous EO.
To directly quote the Governor’s office, “T he requirement for masks to be worn in Arizona public schools, as detailed in Section 5 of Executive Order 2020-51, remains intact and is unaffected by last week's Executive Order.”
If you have questions or concerns related to this, please direct those to the Governor’s office.
Sincerely,
Erik Twist

This spring, Arizona is requiring public schools to test all students (whether online or in person) on campus and in person. These tests vary by grade level, but generally, they include the AzM2 (formerly AzMerit) test in ELA Writing/Reading, and Math, and the AzSCI test, which is required for all 8th and 11th graders this year. More information will follow after spring break. See schedule below.

Updated Quarantine Guideline
|
|
If you were within 6 feet of a person with COVID-19 for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period or had physical contact with a person with COVID-19, you need to stay in quarantine at home.
Please DO NOT send your student to school if:
- Anyone they have been in contact with has tested positive for COVID-19.
- They have been tested for COVID-19 and are waiting for test results.
- Someone in their household has been tested for COVID-19 and is waiting for test results.
-
They have any one or more symptom(s) of COVID-19, which include fever (>100°F), cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, chills, sore throat, headache, muscle/body aches, stuffy nose or congestion, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, and/or a new loss of taste or smell.
- Given COVID testing requirements in order to re-enter the US, at this time, we have lifted all restrictions on international travel. Students who travel internationally will no longer need to quarantine upon their return.
When students return to campus after their quarantine is up or they have negative test results as indicated by Nurse Hodgkins, they must stop at the front desk before returning to class.
|
|
PSO is looking forward to welcoming previous and new Arete Prep families and working with families to support the school admin and teachers this year. A few things to note:
|
|
Due to new federal regulations requiring all international travelers to have a negative COVID-19 test before returning to the United States, we are no longer requiring students to quarantine upon return from international travel.
Please note that Puerto Penasco is considered international

We ask that students not wear masks with exhalation valves, vents or mesh. These type of masks do not prevent the person wearing the mask from transmitting COVID-19 to others. The purpose of masks is to keep respiratory droplets from reaching others to aid with source control.

New Volunteer Clearance Process
|
|
Great Hearts has changed the volunteer fingerprint process effective with the 2020-21 school year. The application is entirely online and available now. All volunteers must be approved through this new online procedure, including those with previously issued/non-expired Great Hearts badges, there will be no exceptions. Please note, when selecting the school, it will not differentiate between Arete Prep and Archway Arete, it will simply state Great Hearts Arete. The system will approve you for both schools.
