AriSEIA's News You Can Use
|
|
Dear Membership,
With the end of 2020 quickly approaching, there is no better time than now to do some general housekeeping.
As a general reminder, the nominations to serve on the AriSEIA Board of Directors are being accepted until Midnight on January 1, 2021. If you are interested in serving, please email me at Nicole@ariseia.org declaring your interest, and provide a bio and a statement as to why you wish to run for the Board of Directors. Once the nomination period has closed, the Elections Committee will announce the accepted nominations. Our membership will then vote at our Annual Membership meeting.
Our Annual Membership Meeting will take place on February 5, 2021 from noon – 1:30 pm MST. This year we will meet virtually. Please make sure to save the date and register here. We look forward to gathering and hearing from Commissioner Elect Anna Tovar, receiving a regulatory and legislative update and much more.
Lastly, one thing that the pandemic brought to light was the need to modernize and update the Association’s Bylaws. As required, the Bylaws may be altered, amended or repealed by a majority of the voting members of the Association present and voting at any duly called meeting of members provided that a copy of any proposed amendments be mailed or distributed electronically at least thirty (30) days before the date of such meeting. Please see the noticed and proposed changes to the Bylaws here.
As always, if there are any questions please do not hesitate to ask and don’t forget to nominate to the Board of Directors, register for the Annual Meeting, review the proposed Bylaw changes and most importantly, have a safe and healthy holiday season.
At your service,
Nicole LaSlavic
AriSEIA Executive Director

SEIA: Solar Market Forges Ahead in Q3 as Residential Installations Recover and Utility-Scale Pipeline Grows
U.S. solar companies installed 3.8 GW of new solar PV capacity in Q3 2020, a 9% increase from Q2 installations as the industry experienced a recovery from the worst impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the U.S. Solar Market Insight Q4 2020 report, released earlier this week by SEIA and Wood Mackenzie, solar accounts for 43% of all new electric generating capacity additions through Q3 2020, more than any other electricity source.

On International Human Rights Day, the solar industry is launching a proactive campaign to ensure the solar supply chain does not include abhorrent forced labor practices. The effort, led by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), features a pledge that companies can sign to oppose forced labor and raise awareness on this important issue.

Senate works to pass comprehensive energy bill in 2020 as renewables sector vies for more aid
If passed, the bill would likely be a slimmed down version of what Democrats and the clean energy industry want to see in a comprehensive energy bill, and Democrats are urging President-elect Joe Biden to prioritize a green infrastructure bill "very early" in his term, Van Hollen said during a virtual conference hosted by the Coalition for Green Capital.
