Spotlight: Organizations Applaud ACC Clean Energy Vote

Twenty organizations, including AriSEIA, applauded a vote last week by Arizona Corporation Commissioners requiring utilities to be 100% carbon-free by 2050 and meet benchmarks along the way. Carbon-free energy rules move ahead in Arizona; renewable source requirement scrapped Arizona utility regulators approved new clean-energy rules on Friday that will require electric companies to provide 100% carbon-free energy by 2050, with interim benchmarks between now and then. The final rules passed Friday include a host of other requirements, from energy efficiency requirements and battery storage policies for utilities. Arizona Corporation Commission gets 2 Republicans, 1 Democrat Two Republicans and one Democrat have won their races in the little-watched battle for control of Arizona’s utility regulatory commission. Current Arizona Corporation Commission member Lea Marquez Peterson and retired finance industry professional Jim O’Connor are the Republicans.
