Regional Career Development Support Opportunities

Each year FFA members compete in their Regional Career and Leadership Development Events to prepare for the State Competion that is held in the beginning of March in Tucson

These events challenge students to develop critical thinking skills, effective decision-making skills, foster teamwork and promote communication while recognizing the value of ethical competition and individual achievement.

We may be five months away, but the tickets are going quickly for the 9th annual Blue & Gold Gala.This event be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Renaissance Phoenix Glendale Hotel & Spa. We are grateful to Arizona Farm Bureau and Farm Bureau Financial Serivices for their continued support as the title sponsor for the "Biggest Night in Arizona Agriculture". This event will bring together more than 750 attendees to celebrate and support agriculture education and the FFA. The night will be filled with an amazing silent auction, fantastic live auction, and much more!

Each year we recognize the Blue & Gold Honoree awarded by the Foundation and the Agriculturalist of the Year presented by the Arizona Association FFA. This year the Blue & Gold Honorees will be Ron and Heather Rayner!

FFA is a Family Tradition

We recently had the opportunity to connect with the Jerry Rovey family regarding their incredible background in Arizona FFA. Their stories, experiences and Arizona FFA impact are a remarkable part of their family’s incredible agricultural legacy. The following excerpts are from Jerry Rovey, Dean Rovey, Todd Rovey and Kelli (Rovey) Wilson.

Jerry Rovey: The legacy of the Jerry Rovey family begins nearly 46 years ago when Jerry and Dianna were married. From there the legacy grew into six children and 15 grandchildren. From day one, it has been instilled in each of the kids- hard work, dedication, loyalty and passion in the agricultural industry.

Jerry, along with each of his children, Andrea (Elliott), Jamie, Dean, Todd, Jake, and Kelli (Wilson), proudly participated as members of the Buckeye FFA Chapter. Four of the kids went on to become state FFA officers and each of them has left a lasting impact within the agricultural industry.



Until age 14, Jerry was raised in Glendale, Arizona on the family’s dairy and moved to Buckeye in 1961 where he and his father Arthur Rovey began farming, what is now known as, Flying R Farms. At Buckeye Union High School, Jerry joined the FFA. It was Jerry’s involvement in FFA that helped to develop his entrepreneurial spirit, purchasing his own equipment and starting his own business at age 15. During high school Jerry started a custom road siding operation to pay his way to college. It soon grew to having four self-propelled bale wagons and served most of the west valley from Avondale to Arlington. He hired former FFA friends and his former Ag teacher, Mr. Roy Clark as operators for the summers. Being Mr. Clark’s boss was a great opportunity to use the leadership skills learned from his former adviser. Jerry loves farming which eventually led him to grow several businesses, serve on agricultural leadership boards at the state and national levels and has allowed him to advocate for the future generations and leaders of the agricultural industry.

Arizona Ridge Riders Partner with the Arizona FFA Foundation

We have an exciting announcement! The Arizona Ridge Riders, Arizona's only professional bull riding team, have partnered with the Arizona FFA Foundation for the upcoming Arizona Ridge Rider Days, October 4-6, 2024, at the Desert Diamond Arena, at Westgate in Glendale, Arizona.

Each summer nearly 300 FFA members from across Arizona attend the State FFA Leadership Camp. This is a full week of leadership development, team building, meeting new friends and personal growth.

Celebrate Teach Ag Month

For the month of September, in honor of Teach AG awareness, we are telling the story of why some of our current Arizona FFA agricultural education teachers have chosen agriculture education as their career path. In this first blog this month, we are pleased to introduce McKenna Marconato of Yuma High School, FFA Advisor, and Jessica Zamudio of Benson High School, FFA Advisor. Their focus on agriculture education as a career and their passion for the profession is evident and encouraging for those considering agricultural education as a career path today.

McKenna Marconato is currently teaching at Yuma High School and has completed three years as an agricultural teacher. Marconato was encouraged to teach agriculture education because this field gives her the opportunity to share knowledge about everything related to agriculture and the importance of agriculture in our society. Morconato states, “I knew teaching agriculture would give me the ability to inspire and empower students to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for the environment and the food we eat.” She knew teaching about agriculture would be a fulfilling role, helping to share the next generation of farmers, environmentalists, and leaders in the agricultural industry.
