10th annual Bustin Clay for FFA
Hit the Target
The 10th annual Bustin Clay for FFA Trap Shoot was right on Target wtih the move to the Tucson Trap & Skeet this year! The Tucson Trap & Skeet Club is one of the largest Trap, Skeet & Sporting Clays facilities in the country and we were thrilled to experience this amazing facility this year.

There were more than 200 people registered for the event to celebrate this amazing milestone for the Foundation. We are grateful to URW for serving as the title sponsor and look forward to them returning as the title sponsor for the 11th annual Trap Shoot.

We could not have had such a successful event to raise funds for FFA and agriculture education in Arizona without the sponsors, participants and many volunteers.

Foothills Bank, the State FFA Officers, Past State FFA Officers and many others volunteered serving as check-in and event runners, score keepers, and assisting with the raffle during the day. Special thank you to Tyler Bowen, Board member and event chair along wtih his committee: Taylor Rogers, Mike Stark, Frank Santiago, Mike Olsen, Brinton Colbur, and Jennifer Salas. We hope you will click on the link to explore all of the great photos provided by Rebecca Hobert of Why Not Capture It!

Stay tuned for the announcement of the 2025 date! We are excited to return to the Tucson Trap & Skeet!

Community Service Project Support
The FFA motto is 'Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live and Living to Serve'. FFA students are learning, at a young age, what it means to serve others through community service projects. This year during the State FFA Leadership Conference, students will have an opportunity to participate in the Doghouse Building Activity. Teams will work together to build a doghouse. After building, teams will decorate their doghouse to be the envy of the block.

To enhance the experience, the teams will also engage in a physical activity to earn additional items to include with their Doghouse, such as pet toys, treats and food.

These beautiful doghouses and care packages come into creation only with team collaboration and hard work! Teams create an amazing heartfelt moment as they donate their doghouse full of supplies for families who are thoughtful enough to adopt an animal in need!

We need your help to make sure this community service project can occur and have the lasting impact it will not only make with the students but also the local Tucson community. We hope you will consider supporting the Day of Service Program at the State FFA Leadership Conference.
LOCAL GROWER COTINUES SUPPORTING FFA
80 YEARS AFTER HE JOINED FFA

Oliver Anderson and his family are Arizona dry flower market wheat growers in Maricopa. Their fascinating history and approach to this market is something unique, and a product we can see at stores like Hobby Lobby and Pottery Barn. We are grateful for the opportunity to interview Oliver and learn more about his family’s incredible farm.

Oliver Anderson was involved with both 4H and FFA growing up. He was a member of the Roosevelt High School FFA chapter from 1944-1948, part of the Phoenix Union High Schools. After graduation, in the fall of 1949, Oliver’s father Clinton Anderson and Joe Palmisano purchased 1,600 acres of farmland in Pinal County five miles east of Maricopa. The crops grown then were cotton, alfalfa, wheat, barley, and some milo. Rotation was critical and the cotton and wheat were rotated each year. Labor was scarce for the operation, so to facilitate this need, nine houses were moved to the farm from various locations including California.
