WHAT'S HAPPENING AT ACC

ACCLI Visits the Capitol

During the month of March, members of the 2024-2025 class of the ACC Leadership Institute visited the state Capitol. They learned about the legislative process, sat in on committee hearings, and toured the facility.

CTE Faculty Training

The Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) provided training for CTE faculty across the state. The training was hosted by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, and sponsored by ADHE Perkins and ACC.

Kyla Waters Appointed to Broadband Advisory Board

ACC's Director of the Center for Workforce, Kyla Waters, has been appointed to serve on the Broadband Nation Expo Advisory Board for 2025. The board is comprised of top executives and thought leaders guiding broadband expansion, policy, and innovation. The Advisory Board will help shape a robust and insightful conference program designed to tackle the industry's most pressing challenges - from closing the digital divide to advancing fiber and wireless infrastructure.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT AR COMMUNITY COLLEGES

North Arkansas College Explores Affiliation with UA System

The Northark Board of Trustees has approved an initiative for the college to explore potential affiliation with the University of Arkansas System. If the exploration process leads to a formal partnership, an agreement will be presented to the Northark Board of Trustees for review and approval. Following that, the Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas would also need to vote on the agreement. Once approved, both institutions would collaborate to meet state and federal requirements. If finalized, Northark would become the ninth community college to join the UA System.

UPCOMING ACC EVENTS

Jobs for the Future 2Gen Meeting

On April 10, ACC and Jobs for the Future will conduct their third and final convening of stakeholders to complete a statewide strategy map focusing on the needs of student parents. The meeting will be held at the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College. For more information, contact ksmith@arkansascc.org.

Workforce Summit

The annual ACC Workforce Summit is scheduled for April 18, 2025, and will be held at the Arkansas Association of Counties. For more information, email kwaters@arkansascc.org.

CAO/CSAO Meeting

The annual meeting of the CAOs/CSAOs will be held April 18, 2025, at the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. For more information, contact ccallaway@arkansascc.org.

Conference

The annual ACC Conference is scheduled for October 12-14, 2025, and there are several important dates coming up. For more information, email ksmith@arkansascc.org or visit www.arkansascc.org/conference2025.
