| | DR. CALLAWAY VISITS CAMPUSES ACROSS THE STATE | | ACC Executive Director, Dr. Collin Callaway, continues her tour of member institutions across the state. In December and January, Dr. Callaway visited National Park College, North Arkansas College, Ozarka College, University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, and University of Arkansas Cossatot. | | CAO/CSAO AND WORKFORCE GROUPS CONVENE TO DISCUSS WORKFORCE PELL | | ACC hosted its regular convening of CAOs/CSAOs, as well as its regular convening of workforce officers. In both meetings, Kyla Waters presented a thorough overview of Workforce Pell including details in legislation, details to be determined in rulemaking, and the timeline for rulemaking and enaction. | | NOW ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR NSLS | | |
Now is the time to nominate your students for membership in the National Society of Leadership and Success. NSLS is the nation's largest accredited co-curricular leadership program. NSLS membership provides lifetime access to career and leadership training, over $400k in annual scholarship opportunities, success coaching, personalized letters of recommendation, speaker broadcasts, and membership discounts.
To qualify, a student must be enrolled (full time or part time) for Spring 2026 with 6-36 credit hours completed and a 2.75+ GPA; OR be dually enrolled for Spring 2026.
Membership is $95/student. ACC has a limited number of free membership discount codes for students who need financial assistance. Contact ksmith@arkansascc.org for more information. Nominations are due February 16.

The University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Ricky Tompkins as Chancellor of the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana effective February 1, 2026. Dr. Tompkins has an extensive background in higher education; he has served at multiple institutions, including ACC. Most recently, Dr. Tompkins served as Vice President for Technical Education & Workforce Development at North Arkansas College. Congratulations, Dr. Tompkins!

| | DR. SHURLEY NAMED PROVOST AT ASUMH | | |
Arkansas State University - Mountain Home announced Dr. Robert Shurley as its new Provost effective January 1, 2026. Dr. Shurley began his career at ASUMH in 2009 as a mathematics faculty member. Over the years, he has served in numerous leadership roles including Faculty Senate President, Director of Banner Institutional Services, and most recently, Dean of Business, Arts & Sciences. Congratulations, Dr. Shurley!

| | NATIONAL PARK RECEIVES $500K GRANT FROM WINDGATE FOUNDATION | | |
National Park College has received a $500,000 grant from the Windgate Foundation to support the college's new welding facility, scheduled to open in August 2026. The investment will strengthen workforce training opportunities and expand access to high-demand skilled trades education for students across the region.

The University of Arkansas East Arkansas Community College chancellor search has commenced. Jerry Stegall, Director of Recruitment and Student Activities and current ACC Leadership Institute participant, has been selected to serve as chair of the campus advisory search committee.

The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana recently announced a partnership with the University of Arkansas Monticello which will allow students to earn bachelor's degrees in K-6 Elementary Education and Business Administration on the UAHT campus.
