Arlington Enters Phase Two on Friday
Phase Two Begins Friday
Governor Northam announced that Arlington and the rest of Northern Virginia will begin Phase Two of the Forward Virginia reopening plan on Friday . Phase Two relaxes some of the restrictions currently in force in Phase One, but still requires limitations to ensure social distancing.

The Phase Two Guidelines include guidance to all sectors on best practices for physical distancing, enhanced cleaning and disinfection, and enhanced workplace safety. As with the Phase One guidelines, they also include many industry-specific requirements and best practices.
Notable Changes in Phase Two:
  • Gatherings will be limited to 50% occupancy of the event space or 50 people, whichever is less.
  • Restaurants may begin indoor service, with no more than 50% of the lowest occupancy load, at least six feet between tables, and no bar seating or congregating. Outdoor, takeout, and delivery service may continue.
  • Fitness and exercise facilities may begin indoor activity, with no more than 30% of the lowest occupancy load or 50 people, whichever is less. The capacity limit includes both patrons and instructors. Fitness facilities must also maintain at least 10 feet between equipment and screen participants for COVID-19 symptoms. Trainers and their clients must also remain at least 10 feet apart.
  • Personal care and grooming service continue to be by appointment only with at least six feet between stations, though the limit on number of appointments per provider at one time is increased to two.
  • Brick and mortar retailers continue to be limited to 50% of the lowest occupancy load and must assist customers in keeping six feet of separation in congested areas (such as check out lines).

Please consult the full Phase Two Guideline document for all requirements that apply to your sector and to all businesses.
