Post Middle School receives grant to replace sound system

Post Middle School is now able to use a working sound system to recognize students and for other events thanks to a grant from a local company. The previous sound system was inoperable. The new sound system will be portable so that it can be used in the cafeteria and other areas.

The school received a $1,500 Community Impact Fund grant from Perteet Inc., an Everett-based engineering consulting firm.

A message from Superintendent Sweeting

Happy 2025!

We are very grateful to live in a community that fosters a “hometown feeling” and a sense of belonging. A place where we can celebrate special events and accomplishments together. One of those accomplishments is cultivating the success of our youngest citizens – Arlington students. We value the partnership we share with you that helps us to provide a safe and rigorous education for every student.

Part of providing a safe learning environment is making sure we are taking care of our facilities and replacing deficient facilities when needed. We cannot do this alone. It requires a collective commitment from our community and an ongoing commitment of the District to care for and maintain our facilities.

In 2014, Post Middle School was identified as being in great need of major renovation or replacement in the District’s Master Facilities Plan. Given the magnitude of facility issues and cost comparisons, a recommendation to replace Post Middle School was made. This was again confirmed in the 2017 and 2023 Master Facilities Plans.

Since 2017, the District has presented to the community the need to replace Post Middle School multiple times. Last month, the Arlington School Board approved placing a revised proposal on the Feb. 11, 2025 election ballot for a Capital Levy to replace Post Middle School. This reflects a reduction of approximately $6 million to homeowners by reducing the square footage of the new school and eliminating four classrooms.

Replacing Post Middle School is not just taking care of students who will attend Post Middle School, but it is a community coming together to ensure ALL students have access to a safe learning environment.

Remember to vote!
