Announcing our new initiative to boost downtown's economic recovery

Friends,

We were excited this week to announce phase two of our plan to spark downtown Saint Paul’s economic recovery: the Let’s Grow campaign, which will bring new life to empty storefronts by hosting local businesses and boosting community engagement in public spaces through events, art installations, and activations, all while continuing to promote downtown Saint Paul and build our safe and clean program.

Plans are underway to host 5-10 businesses in currently empty retail spaces across downtown Saint Paul for six-month stretches of time. Art installations are also going up across downtown as part of this work, including the outdoor office space “Future of Futures” from Amanda Lovelee and Emily Stover at Osborn370, and Girl Friday’s 25-foot installation in the Securian Financial 401 Building. Additional pop-up programming on 7th Place Mall and Wells Fargo Place will be installed in the coming weeks.

A special thank you to our incredible business community, the Knight Foundation and the City for your generous support of this work. You can read more on our plans in the Pioneer Press or watch my conversation with KSTP.

I also want to remind you to check out our next virtual Speaker Series event on August 16 with Ramsey County Attorney John Choi. More details and the link to register can be found below. Plus, there are tons of events coming up, so read on to find something new to do this weekend.

Take care,

Joe
