A note from the president
Hello friends,

This week marks my first full year as president of the Saint Paul Downtown Alliance, and it has been an incredible one. Thank you to all of our volunteers, donors, and downtown community for being so deeply invested in our charming and vibrant downtown. We’ve seen some incredible growth in the last year from the launch of Osborn370, The 428, Press House Apartments, The Oaks, and Treasure Island Center; and new construction launched on the Springhill Suites, Celeste Hotel, Jax Building, Commission House, and more. We launched our Streets of Summer project, built the East Team to support economic development in Saint Paul and east metro, and continue to build toward the future.

As a great way to celebrate, join me at the Jazz Festival – it's always been one of my favorite times of year when you can hear music from just about every corner of downtown. With free music in dozens of venues over three days, it's great to see crowds wandering looking for their next music fix, filling up our bars and cafes.

See you all around (down)town,

Joe Spencer

Streets of Summer Spotlight
Artist : The Milligan Studio, Nicole and Alan Milligan
Project : UpLift
Location : Landmark Plaza

In 1863 Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin took his first ride in a hot air balloon in our very own downtown, which sparked a lifelong obsession. In honor of our city's place in dirigible history, The Milligan Studio created “UpLift,” a temporary sculptural installation designed to imagine what a Zeppelin Aerostation could have been like in downtown Saint Paul. With this work, dozens of small hot air balloons have flooded the streets with color to create an inviting, wondrous and light-filled space.

Guide to Jazz Fest
Jazz Fest kicks off today! Over the next three days thousands of visitors will come downtown to see more than a hundred performances at dozens of venues. Now in it's 21st y ear, the 2019 Twin Cities Jazz Festival will be headlined by vocalist José James, vocalist Nnenna Freelon, the James Carter Organ Trio, and many, many more. Twin Cities Jazz Fest is free and one of the absolute highlights of the summer in downtown Saint Paul.

Join Neighborhood House in the fight against summer hunger
Did you know that in Ramsey County, more than 55% of students from kindergarten to 12 th grade rely on free and reduced priced lunches during the school year, leaving these children at risk of hunger over the summer break?

You can help by contributing to the Neighborhood House summer food drive ! Help fill Neighborhood House’s food markets with fresh healthy foods by donating or hosting a food drive at your business.

Volunteers will also be hosting a table at the St. Paul Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, and Sunday, June 30, to collect food and personal items.

Every donation makes a big impact – it takes only $36 for Neighborhood House to feed a family of four for one week!
