News from the Downtown Alliance
April 19, 2019
A note from the president
Happy Friday, friends!

On this beautiful spring day, we have a lot to celebrate.

Thanks and congrats to the Mayor and City Council for making some great progress on our downtown agenda by passing a new ordinance making it easier for bars and restaurants to open downtown, and advancing a m odest measure to allow sandwich board signs for our retailers.

Our call for Stewardship Program proposals closed this week, and we received amazing responses from our community for ways to add to the vitality of our pilot program this summer. The program launches in June (just six weeks away!), and I’m excited to see it roll out.

Finally, I am excited to see the news in this morning’s Star Tribune about a giant mural project coming to fruition on St. Peter Street on the back wall of the Palace Theatre.

Congrats to all!

See you all around (down)town,

Joe Spencer
President
The Saint Paul Downtown Alliance
Congratulations to Taco Libre for opening their newest location downtown this week!
Mark your calendar - Art Crawl is next weekend
Our walls have been looking a bit bare lately, so we're extra excited to head out to the Saint Paul Art Crawl next weekend, April 26 - 28. Art Crawl events happen all over the city and are a wonderful opportunity to connect with local artists and explore new neighborhoods and businesses. We' ll also be keeping an eye our for ways to incorporate works by local artists into future Downtown Alliance projects. Be sure to plan ahead and map your route!

Volunteers needed!
The Downtown Alliance and the City of Saint Paul Parks and Rec department are looking for volunteers who would be interested in helping with spring planting at Landmark Plaza. No green thumbs needed! All supplies and instructions will be provided.

Planting will take place Wednesday, May 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Around Downtown Development Tracker
Conversions, renovations, new construction - it's all happening every day downtown. Over the last several months the Downtown Alliance has been working to track and report all of the new development happening around downtown. We've compiled a handy tool that allows users to see at-a-glance which projects have been recently completed, are currently under construction or are in development.
