A note from the president

Friends,

This week, an agency called Sky Candy put together an amazing video of our beloved city. It is a beautiful piece and feels like something of a love letter. At the same time, it makes me all the more eager to see my favorite spaces repopulated with all the faces of our community.

In light of the direction from Governor Walz this week, even with stay-at-home extensions that were announced, we seem to be gradually rounding the corner. It won’t be quick nor all at once, but it seems we’ll slowly start to see more and more folks around downtown and that is exciting.

It is with that in mind that we are organizing a downtown clean up next week . We’ve been careful to design this activity in a way that follows social distancing guidance. If you have a couple hours, we’d love your help to pick up trash that has accumulated in our downtown over the course of this COVID era. Like so many things, none of us can do it on our own, but if we all pitch in, we can make a huge difference in our community. Let's work together to make sure that as people venture back to downtown for what may be the first time in weeks, they return to a clean downtown that we are all proud of.

Stay safe and be well,

Joe Spencer

Saint Paul Downtown Alliance
May 7 is Downtown Clean Up Day!
The Saint Paul Downtown Alliance is asking for your help to clean up
our shared downtown community.

Looking for a way to give back to the downtown community during these unprecedented times?

Volunteers will be assigned to zones, with only two volunteers per zone to ensure proper social distancing protocols.

Make sure to wear gloves and a mask when participating in the clean-up. Complimentary gloves and trash bags will be available for no-contact pick up in Rice Park and Mears Park from 3-5 p.m.
Please bring your own masks. You may walk your zone to pick up trash at any time on May 7 if you plan to bring your own gloves, masks and trash bags.

Filled trash bags can be dropped off in Rice Park or Mears Park on May 7 any time before 6 p.m.

Share photos of your efforts using #StPDowntownCleanUp.
