A note from the president

What a truly exciting week is has been for the Downtown Alliance.

Thank you to so many of you who celebrated with us at our first Annual Meeting. The weather could not have been better as we gathered together on the Osborn370 patio to enjoy refreshments from Beaningful and Stacked Deck Brewing and reflect on the progress and the momentum happening in downtown right now.

If you weren't able to join us, download a copy of our Annual Report , which highlights what a great year it's been. Be sure to check out the photos from Wednesday night as well. Thank you as well to the Star Tribune for the great coverage of the event.

We are excited to hear that the Riversedge project is moving forward. This is a once in a generation opportunity to attract new investment in downtown and fully connect downtown Saint Paul to the mighty Mississippi. You can read more on that below.

See you all around (down)town,

Joe Spencer

Thank you to our board co-chairs, Chris Hilger and Mayor Carter.
Ramsey County moving forward with Riversedge development
On Tuesday, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners decided to move forward with AECOM's proposed development along the Mississippi River. The $788 million project includes three phases, the first of which includes retail, residential and hotel uses, as well as a long sought after public realm connection from street level to the river bank. Phase One could be underway as soon as 2020.

Share your vision for downtown
The CapitolRiver Council is facilitating community discussions around updates to the Downtown Development Plan , which was last updated in 2003. The objective of these community discussions is to determine the priorities and vision for the next 10 to 15 years in downtown Saint Paul.

The conversations are not limited to residents. Anyone who lives, works or considers themselves a downtown stakeholder is encouraged to attend. The next two meetings are scheduled for August 7 and August 23, with more to be scheduled throughout the fall.
