A note from the president
Happy Thanksgiving friends!

This is my very favorite holiday of the year, and an opportunity to reflect in gratitude on my life and my community. Let me start by offering my thanks to you, dear reader. You are the best part of my beloved hometown – you create downtown Saint Paul’s personality; your business brings jobs; your theaters bring visitors; your restaurants bring diners; and your vision and volunteerism bring an optimism about our shared future. Thank you for the opportunity to play a role with you in strengthening this district. This is the greatest place in the world and I’m grateful to all of you.

There are a couple things to shine a light on this week (in spite of it being a holiday week), not the least of which is the exciting new development proposed for the Riverfront Properties on Kellogg Blvd. Also, as folks are thinking about their holiday shopping and special outings, make sure you check out the opportunities to celebrate Small Business Saturday in downtown . Restaurant gift certificates and theater tickets make great gifts for the people you love.

See you all around (down)town,

Joe Spencer

Plans unveiled for phased riverfront development
After millions of dollars and years of preparation, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners voted to approve negotiations for a development deal to transform the former West Publishing site. AECOM’s proposed development is big, bold and fitting for this incredibly unique and special site in downtown Saint Paul. Plans are proposed in three phases, which reflect a smart, proven strategy of building out the public realm and residential spaces first, creating demand for businesses to move to the site.
