A note from the president
Hello friends,

It's been a beautiful week downtown with no end in sight. This week we rolled out flower sales from the Saint Paul Grower's Association. You can expect to find vendors Tuesdays and Thursdays at rush hour selling fresh, local bouquets alongside Streets of Summer musicians at Hamm Plaza.

Two great articles appeared over this past week. The Pioneer Press ran a story highlighting the work being done by the City of Saint Paul, business community and others to reevaluate rules and regulations that may be hindering growth. The Downtown Alliance is proud to be part of these important discussions as we continue to drive jobs and vitality into downtown.

In recognition of the ten year anniversary of the Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District the Star Tribune editorial board published a recap of the impact that the MDID has had over the last decade in downtown Minneapolis. Check out some of the stats from the first month of Streets of Summer below.

Be sure to check out the Children's Museum Creativity Street Fest and Bastille Day in Landmark Plaza as you look for what to do this weekend!

See you all around (down)town,

Joe Spencer
President
The Saint Paul Downtown Alliance
Flowers will be for sale during afternoon rush hour.
Streets of Summer stats
Being on the other side of the 4th of July always makes it seem like summer is flying by too quickly. The bright side is that we have a full month of Streets of Summer under our belt, and what a month it has been!

Here's a small glimpse of what the five Street Team ambassadors have been up to:
  • provided 489 hospitality assists
  • connected with 76 business owners
  • removed 28 bags of litter
  • removed 491 graffiti!

Here are some of our other favorite highlights so far:
  • 23 musical performances
  • 12 local artists featured in the outdoor gallery
  • 3 trash cans transformed into mosaic masterpieces
  • 1 large scale art installation

If you haven't yet, find some time to take in the music, wave to the Street Team, pick up a bouquet of flowers or just daydream under the balloons.

Lowertown Clean Up Crew Saints Outing
This Sunday's Spire Lowertown Clean Up features an awesome bonus - the first 50 volunteers to register will receive a ticket to the afternoon St. Paul Saints baseball game afterwards at CHS Field courtesy of the Saints!

The Lowertown Clean Up Crew volunteers meet monthly to pick up trash in Mears Park and around the Lowertown neighborhood. Participants also receive a free Crew T-shirt! Cleaning supplies including gloves are provided.

There's still time to register for our Annual Meeting!
You're invited to join colleagues and friends from the downtown business community as we celebrate the success and accomplishments from year one of the Saint Paul Downtown Alliance.

Weather permitting* we will gather on the rear exterior plaza of Osborn370 for a short program followed by mingling and light refreshments.

This will be a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the work happening to make downtown Saint Paul a more vibrant place to work, live and play.

*In the event of rain this event will move inside Osborn370.
