A note from the president
Hello Friends,
Happy Leap Day weekend to all of you!
I want to start with a special request. It’s Minnesota high school tournament season, and our streets and skyways are especially full these days. As you see student athletes, their fans and families, please take an extra effort to offer a smile or even directions. It comes with the honor of being the capital city that we get to host these folks from all over the state. Lets all try to help make their experience in downtown Saint Paul a great one.
Check out the news below about another new development project - an Ackerberg/Northland collaboration that will bring over 150 units into downtown. This new construction project is more great news for the growth goals for our downtown. Check out more info below.
Also, in case you missed it, check out the Pioneer Press article highlighting our vision for the Sears Site and how it fits in with the downtown.
Finally, I want to congratulate B Kyle and the rest of the board and staff at the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce on their wonderful and successful annual meeting last night. They put together a wonderful annual report and a great event. Congrats!

See you all around (down)town,

Joe Spencer

Business is GOOD in the East Metro
At last night's Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce annual meeting, business leaders, elected officials and community members came together to celebrate a year of GOOD - Growing Opportunity - Opening Doors. Chamber President B Kyle spoke on the important work SPACC has been doing around diversity, equity and inclusion in our community and showcased the transformational development projects underway in our region including Riversedge in downtown. Keynote speaker Travis McCready shared fascinating insight on what makes a community an innovation economy. It's a great time to be doing business in Saint Paul and we're fortunate to have a partner like SPACC in this work. Congrats to the entire SPACC staff for a great event.

New apartments could open be underway by summer
Northland Real Estate and Ackerberg Group will soon present their plans for a new 153-unit apartment building at the corner of Smith and Grand across from United Hospital to City Council for approval. Pending approval the project could be under construction as soon as this summer, project leaders hope. As always you can use the Development Tracker to say up to date on projects happening around downtown.
