Join the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) NY Rochester City Center and American Institute of Architects (AIA) Rochester for a night of fashion, architecture, and design in partnership with Fashion Week of Rochester. See a one-of-a-kind runway show featuring original garments inspired by iconic, local structures using 80% building materials provided by industry sponsors. Select teams will receive awards for their designs, including Showstopper, Best Craftsmanship, Most Creative Use of Materials, and People's Choice.

In the 1850s, land grants in the Adirondack community “Timbuctoo,” given by Abolitionist Gerrit Smith to free Blacks, conferred to them the right to vote in New York. Hear the compelling and beautiful choral suite from Glenn McClure’s new work, Promised Land: An Adirondack Folk Opera, in its first performance, alongside American classics by Randall Thompson and Aaron Copland, just in time for Election Day. ROS is joined by special guests X'zaya Ivy, soprano, Rocky Eugenio Sellers, bass-baritone, and the SUNY Geneseo Festival Chorus, Gerard Floriano, Director.

Paola Prestini and Royce Vavrek’s contemporary foley opera is, as they say, “a story of people trying to do their best,” telling the story of John, a father and husband who develops feelings for another woman in his Mennonite community in northern Mexico. Pat Diamond directs as Timothy Long conducts. Friday and Saturday performances are scheduled for 7:30 PM, with a Sunday matinee at 2:30 PM.

An Alternative to Violence

From Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson comes this autobiographical one-actor play chronicling Wilson’s life as a Black artist in the Hill District in Pittsburgh. Through stories about his first jobs, first loves, and experiences with racism, we go deep into the life of one of the most celebrated writers of the 20th century, from his roots to the completion of his history-making American Century Cycle, his ten-play series showcasing Black experience from across the twentieth century.
