March 2019
A Message from Executive Director, Jeanne Meikrantz

The Arc of Chester County is defrosting from the cold winter months and welcoming spring with open arms!

While the winter was cold, it was a heartwarming and busy one here at The Arc! We provided gifts to over 90 people in need during our Holiday Giving Drive, and supported The West Chester Area Senior Center during their January Food Drive through the generous support of our staff, board community volunteers, and partners. We had a wonderful time celebrating Valentine's Day with both children and adult participants!

On January 22nd and 24th, The Arc of Chester County continued its long tradition of welcoming our newly elected legislators to visit The Arc, learn about our services and mission, and discuss future opportunities to work with The Arc on legislation that enhances the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families. We were honored to meet with the following newly elected officers and their staff: Senator Muth, Representative Sappy, Representative Friel Otten, Representative Shusterman, Senator Kearney's Chief of Staff Sara Mcullough, and Represenative Howard and Chief of Staff Ashley Fox. We look forward to our new legislators joining the force of our advocacy efforts and continuing our strong partnership with our existing legislators who have worked so collaboratively with The Arc to ensure the human rights of all people are honored and recognized in our laws and practices.

Spring brings us the opportunity to raise awareness of the issues vital to individuals with disabilities and their families. March is Intellectual and Developmental Disability awareness month, April is Autism Awareness Month and, May is Mental Health Awareness Month. We're looking forward to continuing to educate the community on  important issues that impact those we love and support. Watch for information on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts about these important opportunities to honor individuals with disabilities in the coming weeks and months.

To close out Spring, we hope we'll see you on Sunday May, 19 th from 9am to 11am for our annual Walk, Run and Fun Day sponsored by WSFS Bank here at The Arc. If you're interested in participating in the event, see the information below. If you'd like to sponsor our event, please reach out to "Achieve with Us!"

I also welcome you to join me and others who have made a commitment to The Arc of Chester County through legacy giving and become members of The Arc's Advocates Society. Please read more about how you can be a part of this incredible society below!

I can't wait to see you Around The Arc soon!
