Spring is officially here with its promise of renewal and rebirth. There are signs of spring emerging once more. Our Arc family is springing into action as we prepare for The Arc’s biggest fundraiser of the year, our 1 mile walk and 5k run event. Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 16th to walk or run virtually with us in support of family and friends with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
This year our goal is to raise $125,000 and with your support I believe we can make that happen. Plus we have exciting new prize incentives for our top fundraisers and a few other surprises up our sleeves. Last year, it was the generosity of “The Arc family” that kept us afloat through the pandemic and resulted in one of our most successful events to date. The pandemic has affirmed for us that it's working together with our entire Arc family (all those we support, our members, staff, volunteers, board, and community partners) that fuels our mission and success. Scroll down to see our event flyer with more details. I hope you'll register and consider making a donation to help us reach our goal again this year!
On that same theme, The Arc is actively recruiting everyday heroes to join our Direct Support Professional team (DSP). If you’re looking for a job that will make a difference in someone’s life including yours, consider joining The Arc as a DSP. Check out the Spotlight section of the newsletter to learn more and please share the job post to help us find the best candidates.
Lastly, our Advocacy team has rolled out workshop sessions just in time for spring. The popular Chat-n-Chew series covers relevant and timely topics from services and supports, to employment opportunities. These free workshops feature guest speakers and experts in the field. Highlights for Spring 2021 include: “Finding Employment in the New COVID Era" to “How Services Have Changed Post Pandemic for Individuals with Disabilities and Autism." We’ve included a link in the newsletter to sign up for these free workshops.
Many of the resources I’ve highlighted are virtual, but I am personally looking forward to engaging in-person soon. Let’s continue to look at the signs of spring emerging and better days ahead. I remain dedicated to serving you this season and have no doubt that I will be seeing you Around The Arc. “Where flowers bloom so does hope.”
