K-5th/Elementary School Masonry Drawing Competition
What: Students of K-5 are invited to make drawings and submit the scans (or good quality photos) of the drawings using the webform below. The drawings can be created in any medium, up to the little artists. A jury formed of engineers, architects, and contractors will select 5 finalists. The finalists’ drawings will be printed and presented at the 14th North American Masonry Conference. During the conference (June 11-14, 2023), the attendees will vote using the conference app and a winner will be determined.
Who: Any K-5 student in the US and Canada enrolled in an elementary school.
Awards: $200 cash prize for the winner, $50 for two honorable mentions.
• 7 finalists will be selected and invited to the conference
• Travel Scholarships will be provided to the finalists
• Present at the conference to a jury
• Top award: $1,000
• 2 honorable mentions: $250 each
Help Promote Georgia Tech of Building Construction Summer Camp with Masonry Elements to Undergraduates
The summer camp is available to rising juniors and rising seniors in any high-school. It consists of a two-week in-person (on Georgia Tech campus) program that presents hands-on activities (including MASONRY) with the latest technology and innovations related to a career in construction/construction management. The tuition for this camp is expected to cost around $2500. There are scholarships available to assist women and minorities in underprivileged communities.
Deadline: March 15, 2023
Applications are reviewed and selected by School’s Chair, given there are limited spots.

Following a six-year development schedule, The Masonry Society has completed and published the 2022 edition of TMS 402/602 Building Code Requirements and Specification for Masonry Structures.
The new 2022 edition has been updated throughout for new referenced standards, including ASCE/SEI 7-22 and numerous ASTM Standards.
Other major changes to the TMS 402/602-22 include:

New Appendix D on composite reinforcement in masonry

Focusing on Member Mental Health - Help Save Lives 988
988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), and is now active across the United States.
When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.
