We had a record turnout with over 200 people attending the conference this year. We were fortunate to have Mrs. Kim Spahn, the CMU Checkoff CEO share her vision and facilitate a panel discussion on a wide range of topics. We also brought back the Production Summit for the first time in 20 years! We had a great time in our education sessions and spending time together as family!

Promotional & Educational Events
Georgia Tech Masonry Day
The SCMA was asked to support the Georgia Tech 2nd-year Masonry Day. The event touched on many areas of engineering including building 10 fully grouted masonry walls. Something cool this year was students built five walls the standard way and then built five walls wearing the exoskeleton suit! This is the first opportunity for 11th -12th grade students to work with masonry. We had roughly 25 kids this year. Both the Masonry Association of GA (MAG) and the SCMA worked together to provide all the resources, volunteers, and training for this event.
University of Tennessee Blockfest at Willocks Brothers
Dr. Bennett stated, “I have taken my class on tours quite a few times before at other block plants. I have also been a part of tours of different plants across the country through The Masonry Society, primarily their Masonry Educators Workshop. This was by far the best! It was so well organized, and it was good to talk about aggregates, to have students work at identifying blocks, to give them the chance to lay a block, and to see the operation of the plant. I so much appreciate all that you did.” Great job TN members for working together on this event!
The SCMA and its members Acme Block, Willocks Brothers, General Shale, Hohmann & Barnard, and Longleaf Packing were fortunate to be a part of this wonderful event. Fred Campbell, Owner of Creative Masonry, had an idea and turned it into a reality. There were 12 high schools and middle schools with over 275 kids participating in this first-time event! We’re already looking forward to the next event!
