A Note from Barbara Baumann
As we head into the month of Elul, we begin to take stock of the past year and look ahead to the new one.

This past year was my first as CYJ Midwest board president and I am pleased to have so much to be grateful for.

  • 194 campers and 45 staff had an incredible summer in Waupaca

  • CYJM Alum Rachel Ruskin joined our year-round staff as Associate Director and hired and managed an incredible staff this summer who created a thriving, supportive, and inclusive Jewish community passionate about Israeli culture and the lifelong friendships they developed
  • We exceeded our fundraising goal and continue each day to benefit from the generosity of our donors. You can still support this wonderful community by 9/30 to count towards this fiscal year. Click here to make a donation.  

  • Thanks to Kevin Friduss’ social media expertise and our active alumni committee, more alumni, parents, Hadassah members, and grandparents have connected with each other than ever before - through online and in-person events. 

  • The CYJM board met in Waupaca for the first time in 3 years and set goals for an amazing year ahead
As excited as I am about the year behind us, I am thrilled about what lies ahead
Pack your bags and get ready to get together - we’ll be celebrating CYJ Midwest’s 50ish summer on April 23, 2023 in Chicago (in-person!!! - and possibly online as well) 

We just launched the CYJM Camper Wellness Fund in honor of outgoing executive director Robin Anderson - emphasizing how important it is that the CYJM community takes care of each other!
CYJM alum Cheryl Wilson Hanson is heading up our diverse and active Camp Director search committee. Do you know a people-oriented leader who loves to spend their summers at camp and wants to make a positive impact on Jewish children and their families? Please send them to our new CYJM Camp Director posting.

Registration for returning campers opens on August 30 and for new campers on September 6. Lock in your early bird pricing before September 30. Pass it along!

Camp Young Judaea Midwest (CYJM) inspires Jewish children of diverse backgrounds to thrive in a joyful, tight-knit community that is passionate about Israel and Judaism. Camp is proud to be part of Young Judaea, the oldest Zionist youth movement in the United States. As our campers graduate from CYJM they continue their journey to Camp Tel Yehudah, Young Judaea Israel programs, and then back again as counselors and role models for the next generation of campers.

Thank you for being a part of this amazing community and making the journey for these children and young adults possible!
