We all know what a special place CYJ is (....everyday is a special day at CYJ!!...) My kids are counting the days for summer 2022 so they can go boating and tubing on Stratton Lake, play archery in the far field, and see all the happy faces from friends near and far.
On Sunday, October 24th at 4pm CT, the CYJ community will be celebrating past board president Brian Jaffee! I have known Brian since our days together at camp. We worked at camp together and now we are lucky enough to send all of our kids to camp together. CYJ is so fortunate to have Brian as an alumni, camp Dad and board member. Brian's commitment and love of CYJ has helped us thrive!
I hope you will zoom along with us on the 24th, celebrate Brian and celebrate our CYJ home!

For the past month, a team of eight volunteers in the AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) program have been living at camp and working on a variety of projects to develop camp programming and help make camp more environmentally sustainable. During their time here, they have added a hiking trail, blazed an awesome brand new web of mountain bike trails, constructed fishing pole racks for our new fishing area, built benches and made other improvements at our medura (campfire) site.
They have painted buildings around camp, and installed beautiful rain gardens and other erosion mitigation structures to help us protect our lake and preserve our camp spaces. We can't wait for you to come back next summer to see all of these additions.
The AmeriCorps NCCC program creates opportunities for groups of young adults to spend ten months serving American communities in a diverse array of contexts all across the country; thanks to Dylan G., Dylan K,, Griffin, Malik, Naomi, Penny, Olivia, and Ozzy for all their amazing contributions!
