Public Works Projects

School is back in session and more cars and bikes are on our roads. Remember to slow down and take care, especially in construction zones.

The Resource Management Agency and their teams are hard at work installing road signs, paving roads, repairing bridges, widening roads, and more.

Meet Wilbur! He's a charming pink piglet with adorable black spots! Wilbur’s favorite pastime? Mud baths! Whether it’s a sunny afternoon or a rainy day, you’ll find him happily splashing around, living his best life. Wilbur is looking for a loving forever home where he can stretch his legs, wallow to his heart’s content, and be treated like the little star he is. He'll need a safe outdoor space and companionship. UPDATES FROM YOUR BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

District 1: Supervisor Larry Micari

Did you know Tulare County has a public transit system? Tulare County Regional Transit Agency (TCRTA) routes run from Reedley to Delano and Visalia to the Tule River Reservation. And it’s not just fixed route buses. We have four options:

  • Fixed Route: With local and commuter routes, our fixed route services allow you to travel efficiently and affordably throughout Tulare County.
  • Paratransit: Seniors, Medicare card holders, and individuals with disabilities can take advantage of paratransit services throughout the region.
  • On-Demand/Microtransit: Our shared-ride, on-demand service, also known as microtransit, will take you where and when you want to go within the TCRTA Transport service zones—just request a trip through our app.
  • LOOP Bus: A free transportation service for at-risk youth in Tulare County, the LOOP Bus provides group transit through community-based programs.

To plan your trip, explore routes, see rates, and more, visit TCRTA today at gotcrta.org.

District 2: Supervisor Pete Vander Poel

As we stay attuned to federal developments, we’d like to offer a friendly update regarding HR1 (the One Big Beautiful Bill) and its potential implications for Tulare County. The proposed changes under HR1 are scheduled to be implemented in stages over the next several years as guidelines are being developed. While early figures have circulated, we remain committed to relying on the most accurate and up-to-date information as it becomes available.

The effects of any anticipated changes are not yet clear, as federal guidance for implementation has not yet been issued. However, it's our understanding that there will be an opportunity for state-issued short-term hardship waivers for individuals living in a qualifying county.

We appreciate our federal partners for their ongoing collaboration in helping to ensure that any possible impacts to Tulare County are kept to a minimum. We remain committed to keeping our community informed with clarity and care.

District 3: Supervisor Amy Shuklian

The new Tulare County website launched last week and we’re pretty excited about our new look. As promised, you can switch pages between English and Spanish, pages have similar layouts to make navigation easier, the I Need To… search is available on every page, and our department pages can be found at the same web addresses.

But we still have a few bugs to fix and more work to do. So many of the pages went live as we expected them to, but a few did not. We’re correcting links as we find them, but if you come across a bad link, you can’t find the information you’re looking for, or just wonder if a part of our website could be better, please let us know! We’ve added a Website Feedback form to our County Homepage at the top and bottom so you can share your thoughts. You can also visit it now at https://tularecounty.ca.gov/county-main/website-feedback.

As our staff teams continue to use the new system, we’ll find better ways to share news and information, help you connect to resources, and we’ll keep training to bring you a better experience. We look forward to your feedback and an improved experience with our websites.

District 4: Supervisor Eddie Valero

Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of hosting town halls in Ivanhoe, London and Goshen, and I’m excited to continue holding these conversations throughout District 4 in the months ahead. These gatherings are a vital way for us to hear your concerns, share important updates, and strengthen the voice of our communities. We also held our recent evening Board of Supervisors meeting in Monson-Sultana this month, where our Water Resources and Grants Manager Denise England provided a presentation on the Orosi-East Orosi consolidation project.

A special thank you goes to Jennifer Fawkes, our Board Representative, for her tireless efforts in helping organize these events and ensuring that our county departments are present to listen and provide information. Please continue checking our County social media pages for upcoming town halls in your community.

Now that school is back in session, I encourage all families to stay engaged by attending school meetings, participating in activities, and supporting our students. Your involvement makes a difference in helping our children thrive.

As we close out August and step into September, we need to consider two challenges for this time of year: the heat across the Central Valley and the impact of fire season in our mountain communities. Please take extra precautions to stay safe during these hot weeks and join me in thanking our first responders who continue to protect lives and property during these difficult times.

District 5: Supervisor Dennis Townsend

I am preparing for our annual visit to Washington DC with the San Joaquin Valley Regional Policy Council. I serve on this eight-county association which focuses primarily on regional transportation needs. Each of the counties work together to advocate for each other for projects that would benefit all member counties and the balance of the state. In DC, we meet with each of our delegation members including Congressional Representatives and Senators. We also meet with the Department of Transportation and other agencies depending on our “asks.” This year I am partnering with Woodlake Mayor Mendoza on the Goods Movement piece of our platform. Many in DC know how vital transportation arteries like SR 99 are to the $50 billion agricultural industry in our combined member counties but some need to be reminded from time-to-time so they may share with their colleagues who may not be familiar with our needs and may not understand the importance of goods movement to the Valley, our State and the entire Nation. I look forward to presenting our case as we move closer to our goals.
