Pastor's Update

Hi Parkway People!

Spring Break usually brings a quiet week around the church with people on road trips, at the beach, and enjoying a week off from school and teaching.

But Spring Break usually signals that Holy Week and Easter will be here soon – followed by the final sprint to the end of the school year and the start of summer! It would be easy to call this a busy season (but what season isn't?) and jump into the details, deadlines and making things work. But if you've heard me give a ministry update on Sunday morning, you've heard me say again and again that the focus of Parkway's life and ministry in this season is connection.

It would be a mistake to take our eyes off of connection for the sake of appeasing the busyness of right now.

Take a look below at ways we are intentionally planning and inviting you to connect with God and one another: Around a Table, in Community, and to the World.

CONNECTING AROUND A TABLE:

Men's Breakfast

Parkway Men's Ministry will meet for a monthly breakfast on Thursday, March 14th, 7am, at Black Bear Diner (13590 University Blvd).

Table Talk

Table Talk was pitched at the beginning of Lent as a way to simply get around a table and get to know other Parkway people and families. We moved our Plan A to the backburner after the Worship Center air conditioning system went haywire, but now we have adapted and are going ahead with this:

Below you'll see three days, times, and restaurants. All you have to do is show up, eat good food, and connect with others. I plan to be at all three and look forward to seeing y'all there!

Ladies Night Out

Parkway women will meet for dinner next Thursday, March 21st, 6.30pm, at Cristobal Mexican Grill and Bar (1270 Crabb River Rd). Questions, contact Andrea at [email protected]

Palm Sunday Potluck

Sunday March 24th is Palm Sunday! To celebrate Parkway will hold ONE single service at 10.30am and a Potluck brunch afterwards. The Church will provide the main course, and if you will bring a side dish or a dessert (or both!) there should be more than enough food to go around! These after church lunches are a great chance to spend time in community together – if you know of anyone who is interested in visiting Parkway, this is a great Sunday to try it!

Use this form to let us know if you're bringing a side or a dessert - click HERE.

After we eat together and, theoretically, get the kids to eat food that is not sugar, there will be Easter Egg hunts. If you have filled eggs to bring, get them back to us soon!

CONNECTING IN COMMUNITY:

Parkway gathers in Community every Sunday morning at 9am and 10.30am to connect with God and each other.

Palm Sunday, on March 24th, kicks off Holy Week – seven days leading up to celebrating Resurrection and new life on Easter Sunday. Below you'll see ways and times you can connect during Holy Week at Parkway

CONNECTING THE CHURCH TO THE WORLD:

Block Party @ Parkway is coming up on Saturday, April 13th! The focus of Block Party @ Parkway is to make connections and build community among all people and neighborhoods of this area.

Block Party @ Parkway is free and will include fun activities for children, including a petting zoo, bounce houses, carnival games, rides on a trackless train, a photo booth, and more. We will also host our annual craft market featuring local vendors, food, and products for sale by local businesses, and presence by community organizations and non-profits.

If you would like to reserve a booth as a craft vendor, please use this link.

If you would like to reserve space for your community group or business, please use this link.

We will also need lots of volunteers to make this a successful event. If you would like to help out please click on this link.

Taking it to the Streets

It's long been a tradition at Parkway to spend a Spring Sunday morning not within the walls of the Worship Center, but out in the community working and serving our neighbors.

Save the date for Sunday, April 21st for Taking it to The Streets 2024!

Check out the current list of projects below.
