MESSAGE FROM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, TERRI GRAY

Dear CLOC Friends,

As the days grow longer and the warmth of summer settles in, we’re reminded of the many ways growth can take shape—not just in nature, but in the lives of the people and communities we support.

At Community Living Oshawa/Clarington, summer symbolizes a season of blossoming pathways. It’s a time when new opportunities unfold—whether through employment, education, recreation, or relationships—and when the seeds of inclusion and possibility begin to flourish.

We continue to be inspired by the individuals we support, whose journeys reflect resilience, creativity, and courage. With the unwavering commitment of our employees, families, and partners, we are helping clear new paths forward—paths that are built on dignity, choice, and empowerment.

As you enjoy all that this season has to offer, we invite you to reflect on the growth you’ve helped cultivate. Together, we are creating communities where everyone can thrive—this summer and beyond.

Wishing you a season filled with warmth, connection, and continued progress.

Sincerely,

Terri Gray

Executive Director

The Phoenix Group Keeps Turning Up the Heat

in the Community!

On June 5th, representatives from CLOC had the honour of attending and presenting our National AccessAbility Week slideshow — created in partnership with City of Oshawa - Municipal Government — at a Special Council Meeting focused on Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion. This slideshow was created with photos and quotes gathered from people supported by CLOC, who want to make a change in the community's outlook on accessibility. Each of the unique slides can be found below.

Huge shoutout to Michael for his powerful introduction of the presentation and for leading an inspiring delegation on how Oshawa can become a more accessible and inclusive community for all.

CLOC's Online Auction Raises Funds to Provide Opportunities for Community Involvement for People with Developmental Disabilities

CLOC's most recent fundraiser, a Virtual Auction spreadheaded by the Fundraising Cabinet, raised an impressive $1000! These funds will be directed to assist people with developmental disabilities to find opportunities to become involved in the community.

CLOC undertakes several fundraising initiatives each year. These fundraising endeavours aim to raise money to fulfill two main gaps that CLOC currently faces; continuing to provide a great Quality of Life for the people we serve, including community involvement, augmented

communication tools, respite care, health and safety and more personalized opportunities for inclusion, and Bricks and Mortar, which ensures that people live in safe homes that are adapted to their needs.

Do you have a fundraising idea, or want to volunteer to help CLOC raise much-needed funds? Be sure to give us your feedback by completing the Fundraising Survey below.
