Connecting our church and community to become change agents for Jesus.
Good morning, COG family!

What an awesome couple of weeks at COG! VBS was a huge success, the outdoor ministry had a fantastic adventure with whitewater rafting, and the men's ministry grilled up a great evening at Beast Feast. See below in the "Celebrating" section to get all the details.

If you missed these events, don't worry! We are just getting started with a full slate of summer activities. Read on for more opportunities to grow with, serve with, and fellowship with other believers here at COG.

"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another"

Sharpen someone this week!

Be salt and light,

Pastor Chris

Pray First Resources
As we continue to commit to Pray First, we want to provide resources to help us grow in our prayer walk. Tom King from the Vision Team has done a great job of gathering resources, and we will provide them on a regular basis.

These are June's resources:

Music Ministry
Do you play an instrument and would like to join the COG music ministry? Pastor David is looking for musicians to join the team. If that's you, email Pastor David.
Chefs of Grace
The Chefs of Grace are starting back up! With COVID restrictions behind us, the Chefs of Grace are planning fellowship events that include great food. If you have a talent for cooking, baking, grilling, etc., the ministry leadership would love to talk with you. Email Rhonda Mott for more information.
COG Yardwork
Do you enjoy riding a lawnmower or edging the grass? Maybe trimming hedges is in your sweet spot. If so, have I got an offer for you!

Every year we have a team of people who help out with COG's landscaping needs. If you are interested in joining the team, email Pastor Chris and we will coordinate a schedule with you.
COG Little Free Library Box
In another effort to connect our church and community, and to serve our community, we would like to set up a library box at COG. This would allow us to provide a variety of books for small children, teens, and adults. If you have a love for books and would like to champion this endeavor, email Pastor Chris.
Upcoming Events
We will be observing the Lord's supper on June 27th. If you will be watching online and would like elements, we have them at COG in small sealed containers. Email Anita to coordinate a pickup day and time.
Our June Boost gathering will be on June 30th from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Watch for upcoming communications on what this month's meeting will be all about.

We have BOOST4KIDS available for all ages while the adults are meeting in the North Building. Kids can plan to have fun and play lots of games together! Be sure to sign up your kids if they will be attending.

This month, we are going to have a dessert potluck afterward! Please bring a dessert to share for fellowship time. COG will provide coffee, water, plates, and eating utensils.
Family Fellowship
We will hold a pre-service fellowship gathering on June 27th from 9:00 - 9:45 am in the North Building foyer. Enjoy snacks and drinks before service and an opportunity to fellowship with old friends and make some new ones.
Hope for Nicaragua Mission
The Hope for Nicaragua Mission Team will be going to Honduras this year. Please email Eric Paulsen if you are interested in going or supporting this year's mission trip.

The team is also recruiting a long-term volunteer webmaster proficient in WordPress and a video production person skilled in Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, VEGAS Pro, or a similar video editing platform.

Thanks and blessings,

Women's Ministry
The next Ladies Fellowship event is July 10th for an easy 3.1-mile walk around Quincy Reservoir. We will continue fellowship with iced coffee at Endless Grind Coffee shop at 17070 E Quincy Ave, Aurora, CO 80015.

Plan to meet at the Summit Elementary School 18201 E Quincy Ave, Aurora, CO 80015 which is across from Quincy Reservoir at 8:00 am.
Rockies Faith Day
All of the current tickets we have reserved for the game are taken, but we can request more. If you still want to go, email Pastor Chris right away so he can request additional seats in the COG area.

If you have signed up, please pay for your tickets as soon as possible. Write a check to Community of Grace and put "Rockies Faith Day" in the memo line.

Colorado Rockies Faith Day is on August 18th at 1:10 pm, which includes a post-game concert by Mercy Me. Tickets are $18 per person.
Biggest Loser Challenge
Fit2Serve ministry will be running a Biggest Loser Challenge in August. There will be more details coming in July, but we wanted to give you a heads up to start coordinating workout buddies and food friends.
Youth Camp
It's only SOGCOG's biggest event of the year!!!

Falls Creek is one of the most amazing Christian camps in America with literally thousands of middle school and high school students gathering for five days of spiritually-impacting teaching by Shane Pruitt, powerful worship led by Cody Dunbar, and amazing times of fellowship and Bible teaching in our own cabin.

Over the course of the summer at Falls Creek, THOUSANDS of students place their faith in Jesus! This will be an unbelievable opportunity to have your student and their friends hear the Gospel! Check out this link for a little TEASER.

The cost for this life-changing week is $275 per participant BUT we have a few amazing ways that families can bring down this cost:

1. The first ten students who sign up and pay for camp AND have a non-SOGCOG student sign up and pay for camp will receive a $50 credit for their camp fees AND their friend's camp fees. (Pastor J. has the final say on whether or not the friend qualifies as a non-SOGCOG student.)

2. SOGCOG is currently holding a silent auction with students providing services such as babysitting, house cleaning, yard work, etc. The bidding sheets are in the North Building foyer and TODAY is the last day to bid! The money raised will benefit the participating students directly.

Is your student ready to sign up? Follow this LINK for more information about Falls Creek and the student registration form. Please turn in this form as well as payment to Pastor J. Make checks out to COG.

For His Glory
- J.

You are Treasured!
VBS 2021 is a Wrap!
We had a great time IN Person this year at VBS! A HUGE thank you to all of the volunteers who made it such a great week with your energy, prayers, thoughtfulness, and hard work! I am beyond thankful for each of you!

We had 42 kids participate from preschool through 5th grade. The gospel was shared, everyone had SO much fun being together and kids walked away knowing that they are Treasured by God. Keep praying for our kids as we follow up on questions about how to become a Christian, how to live for Jesus, and how to know God through studying His Word.

Thank you to the VBS families and our church family who donated money to buy mosquito netting through World Vision for kids in areas where Malaria takes lives every day. At $10 per net, we are able to provide nets to 90 who will be able to use them for the next four years! Our kids are world changers for sure!

Outdoor Ministry
Whitewater Rafting
We had six participants for our annual whitewater rafting outdoor adventure last Saturday. Floating leisurely down a lazy river was not a part of this trip! God provided beautiful scenery and a warm, sunny day to enjoy, along with lots of rapids with fast-moving, cold mountain water. It was all a part of the fun while paddling down Clear Creek near Idaho Springs. We are all looking forward to next year's rafting trip! Thank you, Carol Bryan, for organizing the trip.
Men's Beast Feast
On June 13th the men at COG gathered to grill up their favorite meats and share some of their favorite stories. It was a fun evening of getting to know each other a bit better. We had 32 men and their sons show up for the evening. The grills were packed with steaks, brats, and burgers. It was great food and great fellowship. Keep an eye open for other Men's Ministry events.
