Connecting our church and community to become change agents for Jesus.
Good morning, COG family!

This Saturday is our Harvest Festival! This will be a fun afternoon of seeing friends and interacting with our community. We will have people coming to enjoy food, to let their kids play, or to check out COG as a possible church home.

We will not know if our community guests walk with Jesus as their Lord and Savior. What does that mean for us? It's a great opportunity to connect and be welcoming. We may have the chance to till the spiritual soil, plant seeds, weed, water, or even harvest. We can be used at any stage if we are willing.

Jesus emphasized that the shortage is in the workers, not in the harvest.

“Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send workers into his harvest field."
Matthew 9:37-38

Be salt and light,

Pastor Chris

Upcoming Events
Communion
We will be observing the Lord's supper on September 19th. If you will be watching online and would like elements, we have them at COG in small, sealed containers. Email Anita to coordinate a pickup day and time.
Harvest Festival
Our Harvest Festival celebration will be on the Community of Grace grounds this Saturday from 4 - 6:30 pm. We will have food, games, bouncy castles, and other activities for people of all ages.

New! We have added a "Farmers Market" table to our Harvest Festival. If you have extra garden veggies that you do not need, bring them by 3:45 pm on Sept 18th so we can make them available for the community.

We will also have a cake/dessert walk. Please bring a dessert in a disposable pan or container that we can give away for the walk. We are looking for all types of desserts and cakes. Trust me, we cannot have too many desserts.

This is a great opportunity to connect our church and community to become change agents for Jesus! Invite your family, friends, neighbors, and the three you've been praying for. We will have invitation cards for you this Sunday in the foyer and sanctuary to take and hand out.

Help us plan by signing up here. You can also sign up those you invite who plan on attending.
Men's Ministry Breakfast
We will have a men's breakfast on September 25th at 7:30 am in the North Building. Bring your sons and your appetites. Please sign up at the Get Connected table in the back of the sanctuary or reach out to Dane Campbell so we can plan food accordingly.
Sunday Morning
Discipleship Class
One of our elders, Tom King, will be teaching a course based on the book Cold-Case Christianity by J Warner Wallace. This will be an eight-week course looking at scientific evidence that supports Christianity. The class starts on October 3 and will meet on Sunday mornings from 8:45 am - 9:45 am in the South Building in Room 7.

If you are interested in this class, you can sign up at the Get Connected table or reach out to Tom King. There is no cost for this class. Here is the link to look at the study. Click here.
Long-Timers Social
Have you been a member at COG for 10 or more years? If so, you are invited to our Long-Timers Social on October 10th at 5:30 pm at COG. This will be a great fellowship time. We will provide sub sandwiches, chips, and drinks. Please bring a dessert to share. You can sign up at the Get Connected table or contact Anita Hammond.
Women's Ministry Event
"A Weekend with Lysa TerKeurst" will take place on October 1st and 2nd, hosted and sponsored by Mission Hills Church.

Friday, Oct 1st is from 7-9 pm. Food will available for purchase prior to the event. Saturday, Oct 2nd is from 9 am-12 pm and will be followed by a group fellowship lunch at a restaurant in Aspen Grove. The cost is $35.00 per person for both days, plus money for Saturday's lunch.

Lysa Terkeurst is president of Proverbs 31 Ministries and the New York Times best-selling author of Uninvited, The Best Yes, Unglued, Made to Crave, and 16 other books.

Sign up at the Get Connected table in the back of the church by September 18th so we can coordinate carpools and tickets to sit together at the event.
Women's Bible Study
Do you want a closer relationship with God? The Friday morning Women's Bible study has just started a new 12-week study. You can still join in! We will be meeting both on Zoom and in-person on Friday mornings at 9:30 am.

Life in the Presence of God: Practices for Living in the Light of Eternity by Kenneth Boa will help us learn to cultivate a greater awareness of God in our everyday living using biblical foundations, living and historical examples, and evidence from neuroscience. We can walk and abide in God's presence by rethinking how we use our time and technology to make room for God through practical exercises and disciplines that will help us draw close to God.

For further details, please sign up at the Get Connected table.
MOPS
MOPS/MOMSnext at COG wants to make sure no mom is left behind. This group of women is dedicated to helping each other in the day-to-day needs of life as well as deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ.

The MOPS/MOMSnext group will be meeting on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at Community of Grace in the South Building. If you would like to join in or if you have questions, email Stacey Dalton.
Little Free Library
Books Needed

Little Free Library is coming to COG in September! If you are interested in donating books for it, please bring a maximum of 10 books to COG. The books can be fiction or nonfiction and can target any age group, including children and young adults.

Any books not used for COG's Little Free Library will be donated to Goodwill or Smoky Hill Public Library. Contact Mitty or Judy for more information.

Help Needed

We also need assistance in building the little free library. If you are a woodworker and would like to build or help build our little library, email Pastor Chris.

Thank you!
The juniper bush that was located on the library site location is OUT!. Greg Leikam, Ed Wetz, Kevin Fisher, and Jerry Glass were a great help to get the building phase moving forward.

Also, thank you to those who have already donated books. We cannot have a Little Free Library without books.
Boost
The August Boost gathering was another good one. We focused on praying through "ACTS": adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and application. If you are not familiar with this, look above in the Pray First Resources section. There is a great article and video on this.

Our September Boost gathering will be on Wednesday, September 29th at 6:30 pm. We hope you will join us as we gather to pray, grow, and fellowship together.

We will have ice cream during fellowship after Boost. Please bring ice cream or toppings. to share. Please put your cold items in a cooler as we have limited freezer space.
Men's Friday Morning Bible Study
Join us as we work through the Navigators' LifeChange Bible study Minor Prophets 1.  This study highlights several of the lesser-known Old Testament books with an emphasis on applying God's Word to your daily life. This group meets at 6 am on Friday mornings in the COG North Building. Contact Karl Been for more information at 720.284.4750.
Men's Bible Study
Men, do you need a place to be encouraged and challenged? Join Pastor Joel for a time of looking into God's Word and applying it to your life. We will meet from 6:00 to 7:00 am on Tuesday mornings. Email Pastor Joel if you have questions. They are meeting in person or you can join via Zoom here.
