Chefs of Grace Annual BBQ Throwdown
On September 14th, the masses gathered at COG in anticipation of great food and fellowship. There was also a bit of competition in the air on who would come out victorious as this year's BBQ Throwdown Champion? The annual event hosted by the Chefs of Grace brought in around 190 people. This included COG and El-Shalom members, friends and family, neighbors, coworkers, and members of the Arapahoe Sherrif's Department. The competition meat was smoked brisket, which was served with grilled chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, desserts, and more. Our special guests from the Arapahoe County Sherrif's Department volunteered to be judges for our event. We were blessed by having around 10 officers show up to enjoy a meal with us.
In an incredibly close competition, third place went to Jerry Glass, second place went to Riley Bullock --our only teen competitor--, and this year's champion is Steve Veteto! Others who smoked brisket for the masses were Rick Meyer, Rhonda Mott, Richie Anderson, Ruskin Dole, Tom Wager, and Joel Bundick.
Thank you to the Chefs of Grace for the great food and for setting up a phenomenal event. And thank you to the competitors for the great brisket. We are already looking forward to the competition in 2020.
