February DCCA Meeting Recap
More than 375 people attended the pre-meeting tour of the beautiful, historic Belmont House, DCCA owes a special thank you to Charles Chandler, Right Worthy Grand Secretary of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Belmont staff for leading the tour that more than tripled our participation expectations. as well as noted preservation architect, Paul Dolinsky, for his engaging presentation on the building's architecture and history.
DDOT graciously responded to DCCA's request for an update on the Connecticut Avenue Streetscape and Deckover Project with a team led by Matthew J Marcou, Chief of Staff to the Director. Huntae Kim, Program Manager, Infrastructure Project Management Division. His staff, Wayne Wilson, Civil Engineer, Infrastructure Project Management Division and Christophe Wassmer, Ward 2 Community Engagement Specialist, provided not only a thorough project overview, but also answered questions on neighborhood impact, the construction schedule, and traffic and parking (for both during construction and after project completion). DCCA members also had questions about how the Deckover would be used, which were addressed by Bill McLeod, Executive Director of the Dupont BID, who suggested it could be used for pop-up events, festivals and other community events.
The presentation on the Streetscape and Deckover project can be found here where you will soon be able to sign up to receive project updates.
