Hurricane Response Team
In a few months we will mark the thirteenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, one of the greatest natural disasters ever to strike our shores. The images of Katrina are still seared in our minds, and people along the Gulf Coast are still struggling to put their lives back together.
Disasters like a hurricane can happen anytime, anywhere. They can force you to evacuate your home and eliminate the most basic of comforts. Therefore, preparation is power! St. Luke's Disaster Response Committee is already working to provide you with practical tips and information to help protect your family. In addition, we are building a Hurricane Response Team comprised of St. Luke's parishioners.
If you are interested in being on the Hurricane Response Team, fill out a Hurricane Response card and either mail it to the office or drop it off the next time you are in church. Hurricane Response cards and Copies of St. Luke's Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan are available in the church office for your review.
I am confident that we will be in a much better position to reach out to our own parish family as well as the community if a hurricane strikes our area this year.

Sunday School
One of the many ministries that we have at St. Luke's is our Sunday School Program. Currently, we are in need of people willing to help teach our children. One of the curriculums we use for the K5 - 2nd grade Is Godly Play. This is a wonderful program and the children really enjoy it a lot. There is actually a training session coming up. Here is the information:
Godly Play Training
July 27-29
Hosted by Christ Church, Pensacola
What is Godly Play?  Children have an innate sense of the presence of God. The  Godly Play  approach helps them to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience though wonder and play. Based on Montessori principles and developed using a spiral curriculum, the Godly Play method serves children through early, middle and late childhood and beyond. Come join us!
Please call the church office, 666-2990, if you are interested in this training session or if you are interested in teaching Sunday School next school year.
Prayer Shawl Ministry Uses Funds from Annual Sale for Outreach
The Prayer Shawl Ministry used the funds from their annual sale to help with Hurricane relief in Puerto Rico and to add railings down the hall to the Activities Room.

Dear Prayer Shawl Ladies,
I was touched by your kind gesture to donate some of the money made from the Fall Sale to Parroquia La Piedad, a church in Carolina, Puerto Rico that is helping people affected by Hurricane Maria. Your outreach will certainly touch many lives.
Thank you so much, and thanks to Father Ken and St. Luke’s Parishioners for supporting this caring ministry.
