When I interviewed Herbalist Matthew Wood in 1991 for a local newsletter in Stillwater, MN, one thing he said always stuck with me: "Nature is alive and infinitely wise." I didn't fully comprehend this. I did get that grass and trees are green and grow--meaning they are alive--but infinitely wise?
Now some 25 years later, having lived in the northwoods of Wisconsin for the past 17, I understand. I get that Spirit imbues all life and that, of course, Spirit is infinitely wise.
Humans are often arrogant--not aware of the unseen connections of all living things. We go about our business unaware of the interplay of the mysteries of what is around us--in the flowers, the clouds, the birds, all of Nature. When we consciously connect to the aliveness and wisdom surrounding us, our arrogance is a non-issue. Arrogance is just disconnection from Spirit.
