| | Fulton named MDE's Administrator of the Year | | |
Sumner Hill principal Dr. Matt Fulton was recently named the 2026 Mississippi Department of Education’s Mississippi Administrator of the Year during their annual Educator of the Year Program held at the Jackson Convention Complex.
“It is an honor and a pleasure to serve our students, staff, and families each day and to represent the school and the district at the state level,” Dr. Fulton said.
Fulton has served as principal of Sumner Hill since July of 2024, previously serving as assistant principal at Clinton High School since 2019.

Eastside, Smith featured on WJTV's Cool Schools Segment
Eastside special education teacher Jayden Smith and his students were featured on WJTV's Cool Schools Segment.
Smith was recently recognized for the Keesler Federal Educator Impact Award for his efforts in his classroom.

Clinton Students attend Model UN conference, earn numerous awards
Students from Clinton High School and Sumner Hill recently represented the Arrows at the Mississippi Model United Nations Conference.
This youth leadership conference gathers students from across Mississippi to participate in three days of debates and discussions about global issues facing the world today.

Cullen Lay named Stennis Scholar
Clinton High School Senior Cullen Lay has been named a Stennis Scholar by Mississippi State University.
The John C. Stennis scholarship is a prestigious four-year award for incoming freshmen majoring in political science.
The program is highly selective and is typically awarded to only one or two incoming freshmen each year, with a emphasis on leadership and public service.
In addition to the scholarship, the program includes study abroad opportunities and selective academic programs as well.

Deven White earns Gray-Daniels Chevrolet-Drives Scholarship
Deven White, a senior at CHS, is the April recipient of the Gray-Daniels Chevrolet Drives Education Scholarship. Each dealership in the Gray-Daniels Chevrolet/McLarty Automotive Group awards a scholarship of $2,500 to a selected student. Deven demonstrates excellence both in the classroom and in the community. Students nominated for this scholarship must display a drive for learning, compassion for others, as well as utilize their high standing character in the community.

Williams serves as page at Capitol
Rikki Grace Williams of Clinton recently served as a page for the Mississippi House of Representatives during the week of March 9, 2026.

On Saturday, April 25, The Gabby Strong Foundation is hosting a Wrestling match at Northwest Rankin Middle School to support children who have fought cancer.
One hero being honored is Clinton's very own, Jackson Meacham. Jackson attends Northside Elementary and has fought brain cancer bravely over the last 12 months!
Please show up and support Jackson and other warriors on this special night.
VIP meet and greet starts at 5 pm and doors open to the public at 6pm. The first bell starts at 7pm!

Clinton Public School District’s six-day Annual Residency & Registration dates are fast approaching.
All parents and guardians of new and returning students must provide residency information prior to the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
Parents and guardians can prove residency from 7:00am through 6:00pm on June 23-25, 2026, or July 7-9, 2026, in the Northside/Eastside Cafeteria at 453 Arrow Drive.
To prove residency, parents and guardians must bring a physical copy of a lease, deed, mortgage statement or homestead exemption documentation in the parent’s or guardian’s name.
Parents and guardians must also bring a physical copy of a current water bill, power bill or gas bill in the parent’s or guardian’s name dated within 45 days of proving residency. Mobile service and internet bills are not considered acceptable utilities.
Parents or guardians must provide state issued photo identification showing the physical address of where both the parent and the student reside. This address must be an address within the Clinton Public School District. No exceptions will be made.

The Attaché Show Choir's Spring Revue is scheduled for April 29 - May 2 in Clinton High School's auditorium. These performances trail an undefeated season and hosting Show Choir Nationals at the renowned Grand Ole Opry.
Attaché has increased its national winning streak to 35 consecutive Grand Championships with the group also winning Outstanding Vocals, Best Ballad, Best Band, Outstanding Show Design, Outstanding Visuals and Best Costumes to create an impressive all-time record.
The CJHS Ambassadors Show Choir will open each night at 7:30p.m.
Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the CHS auditorium starting April 20 - 24 and April 27 - May 1 from 9a.m. to 3p.m.

The Sumner Hill Jr. High School's Fine Arts Department is proud to present Disney's Descendants the Musical on Friday, April 24th and Saturday, April 25th at 6:30 pm in the SHJH Auditorium. In those first few years of school, kids don’t fall in love with reading through practice and listening alone. They fall in love with it because it’s fun, it’s meaningful, and it’s their own individual journey.
In our library, I try to create experiences that make reading feel active and exciting. I use hands-on literacy centers that cater to a variety of skill levels and interests.
These include activities such as story retelling, book exploration, builder’s workshop, and art activities that align with the book topic and skills we are covering.

Student engagement plays a vital role in creating a successful classroom. As teachers, we often find ourselves doing most of the talking.
Many times, we feel the need to tell students to settle down or stay quiet, but it is important that, while doing so, we do not take away their voice.
Engaging students in my lessons is my favorite part of teaching. I get to hear my students speak, see how they think and problem solve, and observe how they interact with others. These moments give me insight into who they are as learners.

Clinton Lady Arrow soccer players Ruby Acy, Kayla Jones, and Olivia Lamier each signed their national letters of intent to continue their soccer careers at the collegiate level during a signing ceremony held Friday, April 17, inside the Clinton High School Media Center.
The trio was surrounded by family, friends, teammates, and coaches as they celebrated the next chapter of their athletic journeys.
All three will join the Holmes Community College women's soccer program. Acy and Jones both will compete for the Bulldogs on the field, while Lamier will continue her involvement in the sport as a team manager.

Track sweeps Region 2-7A titles
In a commanding performance on their home track, the Clinton High School track and field teams captured both 2026 Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Region 2-7A championships on Friday, April 17, at Arrow Field.
The Lady Arrows scored 298 points, and the Arrows totaled 205 points in their winning performances.
More importantly, Clinton advanced numerous athletes to the MHSAA Class 7A North State Championships set for Thursday, April 23, at Arrow Field.
For the Lady Arrows, eight individuals and all four relay teams claimed region titles, while the Arrows had five individuals and three relay teams earn first-place finishes.

Mannam finishes runner-up in MHAA 7A Boys Singles Tournament
Clinton High School sophomore Kushal Mannam turned in an impressive tournament run, finishing as the runner-up on Wednesday, April 22, in the MHSAA Class 7A Boys Singles Tournament at Halls Ferry Park.
Mannam battled his way to the championship match with a pair of standout victories.
He outlasted Ocean Springs' Patrick Bingham (7-5, 6-7, 10-6) in a three-hour quarterfinal marathon, then defeated Northwest Rankin's Carter Do in straight sets during the semifinals on Tuesday, April 21.

Lady Arrows host Lewisburg in first round of 2026 postseason play
The Clinton Lady Arrows Softball team are set to host the first game of a postseason series against the Lewisburg Lady Patriots at Arrow Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 5:30pm on Thursday, April 23. Clinton will travel to Lewisburg on Saturday to play the second game of the series.
The Lady Arrows finished their regular season with a 15-12 overall record, going 7-2 in conference play.

Boys soccer tryouts announced
The Clinton Arrow soccer program announced tryout dates for the 2026–27 season, with sessions scheduled for Monday, April 27, and Wednesday, April 29, at Arrow Field on the campus of Clinton High School.
Tryouts for the Clinton Junior High School (CJHS) team are open to current sixth- and seventh-grade students, while Clinton High School (CHS) tryouts are open to current eighth- through 11th-grade students.

The Clinton Arrows baseball program has announced tryout dates for the upcoming season with sessions scheduled for late May at Arrow Baseball Field.
Tryouts will be split by grade level, offering opportunities for both junior high and high school athletes to showcase their skills for the coaching staff.
Rising 7th- and 8th-graders will participate in a two-day tryout on Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28. The first session will run from 5-7 p.m., followed by a second session the next day from 5-6 p.m.
Rising 9th- through 12th-graders will hold their tryout on May 28 at 6:30 p.m.
All tryouts will take place at Arrow Baseball Field on the campus of Clinton High School, located at 401 Arrow Drive in Clinton.
Participants must have a current physical and a completed parental consent form on file prior to participating. Those interested in trying out can complete the sign-up process by scanning the QR code provided on the official announcement graphic or click on the button below.

The Clinton High School women's basketball team will host its 2026 spring semester tryotus on Monday and Tuesday, May 4-5, inside the CHS Gym.
Tryouts are slated from 3:45-5 p.m. each day and are open to prospective athletes interested in joining the Lady Arrow basketball program.
Participants must bring a completed parent consent form and a current physical in order to be eligible to try out. Athletes should arrive dressed in appropriate athletic wear and tennis shoes.

The Clinton Athletics Department would like to remind fans of important Arrow Field and Clinton Public School District (CPSD) athletic facility guidelines.
These policies apply to all athletic facilities operated by CPSD, including Arrow Field, the Clinton High School and CJHS gyms, Arrow Baseball Field, Arrow Tennis Courts, and Lady Arrow Softball Field.
Facility Guidelines:
- Students will not be allowed to bring backpacks in the stadium, gymnasium, or fields.
- Adults may bring necessary bags such as diaper bags and other necessary bags
- Children and students in 8th grade or below must be accompanied by a parent or adult to enter the facility.
- Adults supervising students are responsible for student behavior during the event.
- Anyone failing to follow these facilities guidelines will be asked to leave the game and premises.
Let's continue to make Arrow Field and all CPSD athletic facilities a safe and family-friendly environment for all fans.
