Schoggen earns Raytheon Internship
Clinton senior Murphy Schoggen was recently selected to participate in the competitive Raytheon Summer Internship Program in Forest, Mississippi.
Over 80 students applied for the internship, but only 22 were selected to participate.
“I’ve always wanted to be an engineer,” Schoggen said, “so I did my research and talked to my family about this opportunity. They were supportive of it and helped me walk through the process.”
The Raytheon Summer Internship will begin on June 1 and will last through the summer, concluding on July 31.

Jayden Smith awarded Keesler Educator Impact Award
Jayden Smith, special education teacher at Eastside Elementary School, was recently awarded with the Educator Impact Award from Keesler Federal Credit Union.
Keesler Federal Credit Union surprised Smith with the award along with a $1,700 cash award. Eastside Elementary was also awarded $750 to support Smith’s continued excellence in the classroom.

Brumfield awarded MPE scholarship
Ginny Grace Brumfield, a 2nd grade teacher at Northside Elementary, recently received a $1,000 graduate scholarship from the Mississippi Professional Educators (MPE).
A National Board Certified Teacher and resident of Clinton, Brumfield earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University.
A member of MPE since 2024, she is currently pursuing an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership at Mississippi College.

Sumner Hill students participate with All-State Strings Orchestra
Janae Sinclair and Daniel Dolson participated in the annual All-State Strings Orchestra hosted at Belhaven University.
Both students have participated in orchestra within the Clinton Public School District since their time in 5th grade.

On Saturday, April 25, The Gabby Strong Foundation is hosting a Wrestling match at Northwest Rankin Middle School to support children who have fought cancer.
One hero being honored is Clinton's very own, Jackson Meacham. Jackson attends Northside Elementary and has fought brain cancer bravely over the last 12 months!
Please show up and support Jackson and other warriors on this special night.
VIP meet and greet starts at 5 pm and doors open to the public at 6pm. The first bell starts at 7pm!

Clinton Public School District’s six-day Annual Residency & Registration dates are fast approaching.
All parents and guardians of new and returning students must provide residency information prior to the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
Parents and guardians can prove residency from 7:00am through 6:00pm on June 23-25, 2026, or July 7-9, 2026, in the Northside/Eastside Cafeteria at 453 Arrow Drive.
To prove residency, parents and guardians must bring a physical copy of a lease, deed, mortgage statement or homestead exemption documentation in the parent’s or guardian’s name.
Parents and guardians must also bring a physical copy of a current water bill, power bill or gas bill in the parent’s or guardian’s name dated within 45 days of proving residency. Mobile service and internet bills are not considered acceptable utilities.
Parents or guardians must provide state issued photo identification showing the physical address of where both the parent and the student reside. This address must be an address within the Clinton Public School District. No exceptions will be made.

The Attaché Show Choir's Spring Revue is scheduled for April 29 - May 2 in Clinton High School's auditorium. These performances trail an undefeated season and hosting Show Choir Nationals at the renowned Grand Ole Opry.
Attaché has increased its national winning streak to 35 consecutive Grand Championships with the group also winning Outstanding Vocals, Best Ballad, Best Band, Outstanding Show Design, Outstanding Visuals and Best Costumes to create an impressive all-time record.
The CJHS Ambassadors Show Choir will open each night at 7:30p.m.
Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the CHS auditorium starting April 20 - 24 and April 27 - May 1 from 9a.m. to 3p.m.

Student engagement plays a vital role in creating a successful classroom. As teachers, we often find ourselves doing most of the talking.
Many times, we feel the need to tell students to settle down or stay quiet, but it is important that, while doing so, we do not take away their voice.
Engaging students in my lessons is my favorite part of teaching. I get to hear my students speak, see how they think and problem solve, and observe how they interact with others. These moments give me insight into who they are as learners.

Aria Jones and Grace Eatmon each signed their national letters of intent to continue their playing careers at the collegiate level at a signing ceremony held inside the Clinton High School Media Center surrounded by family, friends, teammates, and coaches on Tuesday, April 14.
Jones joins Southwest Mississippi Community College, while Eatmon committed to Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Track sweeps Woody Barnett Invitational, break 4x400 record
The Clinton Lady Arrows already owned the state record in the 4x400-meter relay. On Friday, April 10, they shattered it.
Competing at the Woody Barnett Invitational on April 10 at Pearl High School, the Lady Arrows' quartet of Kamiah Mounger, Khamrin Harper, Caitlyn Magee, and Makenzie Holiday blazed to a new state-record time of 3:52.89, putting an exclamation mark on a standout day for Clinton Track and Field.
The record-breaking performance helped Clinton close out the regular-season meet schedule on a high note as both teams claimed titles.
The Lady Arrows and the Arrows open postseason competition by hosting the MHSAA Region 2-7A Championship Meet on Friday, April 17, at Arrow Field. Events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Gholar's five RBIs power Lady Arrows to 8-5 region win
The Clinton High School softball team overcame an early three-run deficit and outlasted Madison Central, 8-5, in an MHSAA Region 2-7A matchup Thursday night on the CHS campus.
Jaelyn Gholar drove in five runs on three hits, while the Lady Arrows backed Presleigh Burrow's complete-game effort with superb defense.
The win improved Clinton to 7-1 in league play and 14-10 overall.
The Lady Arrows return to region play on Tuesday, April 14, traveling to Gluckstadt to face the Germantown Lady Mavericks.

The Clinton Arrows Swim Team (CAST) announced its 2026-27 roster on Monday, April 13, as 45 swimmers earned spots to compete for Head Coach Marcy Rushing in the upcoming season.

Baseball tops WC behind late push
The Clinton High School baseball team earned a 7-5 win over the Warren Central Vikings on Saturday, April 11, in non-region action at Warren Central High School.
The Arrows travel to Ridgeland for a non-region matchup against the Titans at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 13. Clinton returns home Friday, April 17, to host the Brookhaven Panthers on Senior Night.

Clinton XC announces 2026 rosters
The Clinton Cross Country programs announced its roster for the Lady Arrows and Arrows for the 2026 season following tryouts were held on Monday, April 6.
The rosters include teams for the junior-high and high-school levels.
The Clinton Cross Country Booster Club will hold a mandatory meeting for all parents and guardians on April 28 at 6 p.m. in the CHS Cafeteria.

Boys soccer tryouts announced
The Clinton Arrow soccer program announced tryout dates for the 2026–27 season, with sessions scheduled for Monday, April 27, and Wednesday, April 29, at Arrow Field on the campus of Clinton High School.
Tryouts for the Clinton Junior High School (CJHS) team are open to current sixth- and seventh-grade students, while Clinton High School (CHS) tryouts are open to current eighth- through 11th-grade students.

The Clinton Arrow football program will conclude its junior high spring training with its annual spring game on Tuesday, April 21.
After weeks of training, installation, and development, the Arrows' eighth- and ninth-grade teams will take the field against Warren Central at 5:30 p.m. at Arrow Field.
The spring game provides fans with an early look at the future of Arrow Football as the program continues to lay the foundation for seasons to come.

Volleyball announces 2026 tryout dates, skills clinic
The Clinton Lady Arrows Volleyball program has announced important dates for its upcoming tryout season.
On Wednesday, April 22, the coaching staff will host a skills clinic for current 6th- to 8th-graders at CHS Arrow Gym. The clinic is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and the cost is $30. Registration must be completed by Monday, April 20, using the link below.
The CHS volleyball team will hold varsity and junior varsity tryouts on April 29-30 at CHS Arrow Gym. Tryouts will run from 4 to 5:30 p.m. each day.

The Clinton Athletics Department would like to remind fans of important Arrow Field and Clinton Public School District (CPSD) athletic facility guidelines.
These policies apply to all athletic facilities operated by CPSD, including Arrow Field, the Clinton High School and CJHS gyms, Arrow Baseball Field, Arrow Tennis Courts, and Lady Arrow Softball Field.
Facility Guidelines:
- Students will not be allowed to bring backpacks in the stadium, gymnasium, or fields.
- Adults may bring necessary bags such as diaper bags and other necessary bags
- Children and students in 8th grade or below must be accompanied by a parent or adult to enter the facility.
- Adults supervising students are responsible for student behavior during the event.
- Anyone failing to follow these facilities guidelines will be asked to leave the game and premises.
Let's continue to make Arrow Field and all CPSD athletic facilities a safe and family-friendly environment for all fans.
