| | CHS A Capella choir celebrates digital release of original recordings | | |
Clinton High School’s choral program recently celebrated the digital release of two tracks recorded during the 2024-2025 school year.
Arrow401, Clinton’s all-female group, recorded an arrangement of Lesley Gore’s 1963 hit “You Don’t Own Me,” and OnCore, Clinton’s all-male group, recorded an arrangement of “Flying” by Cody Fry.
Choral instructor and competitive a capella director Carol Joy Sparkman said this opportunity for her students came about while looking for competition arrangements for her 2025 competition choirs.
Sparkman said this opportunity was a chance for her students to experience the recording process, something that was unfamiliar to many of them and completely different from performing on stage.
Sparkman said their plan is to record music like this on a regular basis, building up what students in younger grades can look forward to.
“Being able to step into a recording studio and say, ‘I have recorded a song, and I was part of it, and it was on Apple Music and Spotify.’ We plan to do it every year.”

Using Data to Form a Solid Foundation | | |
By Emma Johnson, CJHS
August 12, 2025
During the first two weeks of school, I structure my classroom and lessons where students can discover that it is okay to make mistakes. That is how we learn.
By using data to build a foundation, the plan for the school year is in place before a single student walks into my classroom and helps drive their instruction throughout the year.

Building Knowledge to Close the Gap
By Jessica Crawley, Northside Elementary
August 5, 2025
When students have knowledge about a topic, they’re more likely to understand and retain what they read. In fact, research shows that equalizing background knowledge can close comprehension gaps even more effectively than boosting reading skills alone.
